Life In General...

WOW!! It's been 2 months & 2 days since my last Blog! GOODNESS!!!

Quite a bit has been going on, too.

Hubby is in Afghanistan--he's a contractor, not a serviceman. Nevertheless, it's not a place to be. He's doing OK, tho. He's having a hard time sticking with his 'heart healthy' meals, tho. Low sodium is not on the mess hall menu :) And he's living in a tent with 5 other guys and, of course, there's no cooking allowed in the tents. But he's doing the best he can.

A couple months ago I had what started out as conjuctivitis. I was treated with a sulfa drug and developed an allergy to sulfa drugs. I ended up with a massive eye infection and I had a horrible rash on my face & arms. Twice a week for 1 1/2 months I was seeing an opthamologist. THAT was pure hell, I gotta say! I was on so many different meds becuz we were trying to find one that worked. But it's all cleared up now.

Then Tuesday I went to the doctor with an ear infection. Turn out I have an inner AND an outer ear infection in BOTH ears. She wrote me a prescription for Amoxcillin and some ear drops. Yesterday my tongue swelled up a bit. I wasn't too concerned. This mrng it was swollen a bit more & very painful. It hurts to swallow. All I can manage is scrambled eggs, yogurt & cottage cheese. So I read the info that came with the amoxicillian and found that was one of the allergic reactions. But my neighbor said it might also be thrush. So I have to call my doctor tomorrow for another appt. AND my ears still hurt! BAD!! I don't think I've slept more than 4 hrs a night for the past week. And I'm dropping weight too fast becuz I can't eat much. And I've been drinking a LOT of water becuz it feels good on my tongue! Tuesday, the doctors' scale read 128. I'm glad I'm losing weight but not like this. When I finally get healthy again and can begin eating I KNOW the pounds will pile back on unless I'm very, very careful!

My cardio has been virtually non existent this week, except for walking. Which, in combination with my low calorie count, is probably a good thing. I can't exercise with this ear infection, anyway. But I have continued on with ST!

I bought the Brazil Butt Lift dvds from BeachBody. I like it. I did a week of it before my ear infection. I have NO rhythm WHATSOEVER but I was having a pretty good time with it. There's a contest starting June 1st that I'm planning on entering. Motivation, if nothing else. I just REALLY don't want to take my picture and put it out there for everyone to see! But I'll suck it up, I guess!

Amber had her TAKS test a few weeks ago. It's now called the STAAR test and instead of being able to take all day it's now timed. 4 hours. Her progress report came out the week before the testing and she was failing Math(58) & English(62). So I don't know if she'll be graduating to the 5th grade or not. The last day of school is the 31st.

I do know this, tho. Since we now have the finances I'm thinking I'm going to stick her butt in Sylvan Learning Center this summer. 12 hours a week, $95.00 a week. It sure won't hurt and it can ONLY help. If nothing else she won't forget everything she's learned. Of course, that blows any summer vacation plans we may have made but education comes first. She'll be 11 in June.

Let's see...what else...

Well, I guess that's it!

Have a WONDERFUL evening!

Thank you so much for the flowers Sparkgoodie! So good to hear from you and how you are doing: wow, talk about being under a lot of stress! I hope you're feeling better (it's been over 2 weeks since you posted). I like the idea of tutoring for Amber and maybe she'll get the "learning bug." I wish her a happy 11th birthday! Hope she has a fun day! Keeping you all in my prayers! Have a great Summer! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Glad your conjunctivitis is gone but sorry to hear you have other medical issues. Best wishes to Amber too. I think SLC can only help.

Try some Garlic-Mullein oil for your ears. It will help the pain a lot and will also help clear that infection. I am an herbalist and I am prone to very serious ear infections. Since I started using the garlic-mullein oil I have not needed antibiotics or pain meds. I am not saying this will completely cure your infection but it will help with the pain. If you have any access to a natural health store get some and FAST! You will feel better.

Good luck with both your ears and with Amber's studies! I hope you feel better soon. Nothing hurts like ear pain. Please get the oil!

It must be so hard to have your husband in Afghanistan. I hope he stays safe. I hate being away from my husband for one night and we have been married 24 years in August.

I'm sorry to hear about your eye and ear problems. It sounds awful. I too am allergic to sulfa drugs. I've had anaphylaxis from them and that is scary.

I hope your daughter makes it too the 5th grade.

    Take care and feel better.

I'm sure you're missing your man Michele, hope he stays safe out there and looks after himself.
Sounds like you're having a rough time with your infections, hope you feel better soon hun-ear infections can really wear you down so take care of yourself and don't worry about cardio at all, rest.
I feel for Amber with such long tests to sit! I hope she makes 5th grade, I'll keep my fingers crossed for her.

Lovely to see you blogging.......don't leave it so long next time, I love to hear how you're all doing emoticon emoticon
