My Challenges

Sparkpeople has given me Challenges to do and overcome. And I'm loving it. Some are more successful than others, but they keep me going.

For the Spring 5% Challenge, I lost more than my 5% goal, though I kind of fell off the wagon in terms of tracking on my last week. Not that I wasn't exercising, I just never got around to crediting it to the group. I do feel bad about that. However, I did it. I made it to - and beyond - a 5% weight loss from the start of April.

I'm doing the Spring Bootcamp Challenge now, and its going very well right now. I'm doing it in conjunction with the 28 Day Bootcamp video for the extra cardio, and I've suddenly found myself exercising in the morning. Who knew? I can't claim I'm awake when I do my grapevines and planks and windmills and lunges, but I'm doing them.

The Sleep Challenge is sputtered to a stop again. Its honestly proving harder to get a regular sleep schedule and routine than it has been to learn to use resistance bands and do crunches (and I hate crunches!). I'll keep at it, though.

I'm also setting myself two personal goals/challenges for the summer. One is something I've never been able to do, and the other involves not just physical fitness but mental as well - I am actually afraid of stairs (you fall down them multiple times and get a concussion and split your lip and bruise your back and not get afraid of them).

Goal #1 - do a pull up / chin up. I have never, ever been able to do one, not even when I was young and relatively slender and fit. I'd LOVE to be able to do something now that I was unable to do when I was younger.

Goal #2 - do the Big Stairs going from the cliff top park to the beach in Goderich (where my grandparents live). As I can't be in Goderich all the time, this will involve a lot of stair climbing at work and at home. Thankfully I live in a six story building?
I know I can do it - when I was 21, I climbed the stairs to the top of St. Paul's Cathedral in London, England (and have the photos to prove it). And these aren't nearly as high (close though). I just hope I don't fall...

    Can I ask, you walk, you listed in, kilo, I am not sure. But how many miles is that? You said 4.7, so how many miles. I am glad you are doing so well. Where do you live? Good luck with the sleep. I get up at 5:30 a.m., and by the time 9 p.m. gets here I am ready for bed. I am 63 yrs. young.
