Shoe/foot pain?? Please respond with your experiences!! TU!

Monday, May 14, 2012

So I went and had my foot sized and my walked taped to see if I turned my ankle or anything. Tried on a bunch of shoes and found a pair that felt great.

However walking for any length of time in them is still painful, my right foot isn't so bad but left one arch really hurts. I had hoped to find a pair of shoes that were extremely comfortable. I can find sandles that are comfy but tennis shoes I really struggle with. I'm not walking long distances or for long periods yet.

I do have 30 days to return the shoes, but can't decide if I'm hoping for too much so would like your experiences please..

When/if you were very heavy (I'm 5'4" and 330lbs) were you able to walk w/out pain in any type of shoes?

    hey

I went to a podiatrist who taped up my feet for a week. he said as we get older, the muscles in our feet relax so the bones spread out and everything gets out of alignment.

then he ordered me special made orthotics and i have not had a problem ever since - if i wear them.

since i only have one set of orthotics , i put a nickle size velcro on the bottom and then put the opposite velcro in each pair of shoes i wear. then i can move the orthotics back and forth. it works great.

if you can afford it or have insurance, this would be my suggestion.

Sorry....can't really help you. I have Chronic Tendonitis and when the pain is unbearable I march....seems to help relieve it.

I also have been blessed (?) with flat feet. Between all my foot problems and the swelling from my Lymphedema, I buy mens shoes. I go more for width and fit than for style. Would be nice if I could find something more supportive!

If your feet hurt in your new shoes....I would return them! They should fit like a glove and be comfy all the time!

I also was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and I sometimes struggle with foot pain in my arches. I ice them when they get bad and try massage....but if shoes are uncomfortable...I send them back. Sorry, I'm no help!

I like Skecher's and New Balance, but it sounds like you might need to see a podiatrist. If you got fitted and are still having that many problems, you may have more problems going on.

I was miserable until I was told by my doctor to use Birkenstock orthotics in my shoes.
    They helped me so much.

I have plantar fasciitis and have struggled with foot pain with activity (arch fatique). I bought a pair of New Balance tennis Shoes and use an Dr. Scholl insert/orthotic in them, I am happy to report that my foot pain as decreased tremendously. I only experience it mildly now when I am on the elliptical machine. , but walking has been pretty much pain free. I do experience some arch fatique but to a tolerable degree. I agree with Mommyjayjay - stretch up on your tippe toes to strengthen the arch (I was advised by a yoga instructor). Hope you find some relief.

I have two suggestions as I sometimes have foot pains and definitely with new shoes! I started doing calf stretches and going up on my tippy toe stetches after my walks, it helps strengthen your arch and has helped me. Also, fish oil supplements seem to improve the aches and pains. Hope this helps.
