Rebelling against Celery

Why should I eat one vegetable because it is good for me when I know that I don’t like it? I’m talking about celery. I’ve tried to eat it any many different ways and the fact is, I just can’t stand it! I absolutely hate the texture.

This has gotten me thinking lately. If this journey is about making a lifestyle change, why would I want to force a food down my throat for the rest of my life? There are plenty of other foods out there that I love, and that are healthy for me.

So I made a decision. My husband is pickier then I am with food, and we had a discussion the other day. He agreed with me that I should try to eat food that I don’t exactly like, and that would be a recipe for disaster. Starting tomorrow, we are only making foods that we like, but are healthy and meet my nutrition values. No more icky celery!

    I am the same way with raw celery. I will cook it but I can't eat it raw.

    couldn't agree more (axcept that I love celery) with your decision! Besides, there are plenty of wonderful leafy salad greens out there that pack a way better punch of nutrition and hold the same calories in an entire cup as 1 stalk of celery does...now that'll fill me up better any day :)

    I totally agree with you! If you're going to make true lifestyle changes, you need to make sure your diet consists of things you can see yourself eating for the rest of your life. I also think you should try new things and then decide from there if you like them or not so you can add things to your list of foods you can eat for the rest of forever :) I hear ya on the whole celery thing though. I don't like it either and I refuse to eat it. The same with onion. I'm okay with onion powder or if it's fresh onion chopped super tiny but big ol' chunks or slices...no thanks!

    That's right! Make it work FOR you! There is no rule that says you must eat a particular item for a healthy lifestyle.

    Walk away from the celery and find a veggie you DO like!

    I'm more than happy to cook it down in recipies, but I can't eat celery raw! I'd much rather go for baby carrots!
