Could use some prayer

Little bit more about new job and why I may soon need to be medicated... emoticon

My new title is position a Jr. Configuration Analyst. I’m really completely new to this, hence the JR in the title. Right now I’m helping to build the configuration database. Basically taking just over 300 facilites and for each one, building a configuration item for each application we service there. It probably doesn’t sound like much, but it’s actually a pretty big deal and a big project. Anyways, obviously there’s a lot more to this job, but that’s all I’ll bore you with for now. The bad news is, my new boss has already driven away three other people. The most recent one is of course the person who was supposed to train me. I’m trying to keep a good attitude though and not let past experiences rule my relationship with the new boss. I've been working with her since Dec, but now officially on her team. We have a good relationship so far, and I'm just hoping it stays. It's not ideal, but it's an amazing opportunity to change my career path. I just hope I can learn quickly and keep up! emoticon

So, when you think of me, say a quick prayer! In the mean time, I'll be studying for my cert and exercising!

Hang in there and get plenty of sleep. Good employees always outlast bad bosses. (If I owned a company I would have to question a manager who keeps driving away their employees).

Oh Sarah! I so completely understand how you feel. I changed roles within my company at the beginning of the year. It is a great opprotunity and I am honored to have the chance. However, right now I am in a tight spot. (Read my blog from last night. I believe I put it all in there).

You will be fine. I just know it. But, I will pray for you anyway because any little bit always helps. But, just remember, if you feel like just venting - let me know and I will be there to listen - I promise. I may not have any advice, but I will be a sounding board and honest.

    Have a great weekend!!!

Good luck, Sarah. I understand where you're coming from. I just applied for a job where I know the boss runs off everybody, but it's a good opportunity! Keep us posted!

"helping to build the configuration database. Basically taking just over 300 facilites and for each one, building a configuration item for each application we service there." You said it probably doesn't sound like much. I say HUH? I can't even figure out what it all means, much less whether or not it is difficult!

I CAN understand working by the seat of your pants because of a boss who drives away employees. Been there, done that, got the scars AND the experience to prove it. In the career I had for years until my mom got sick I started out fairly low level. My boss was just starting to train me to be his back up when he got fired. I wasn't asked if I wanted the position. I was handed the job and basically told to figure it out. Thank God Almighty I flourished and loved it ( as you will, I know! ) despite an over-bearing Big Biotch..I mean Boss. When I left 8 years later I was already physically suffering from the stress she unnecessarily created.

I'm praying for you, Sarah, wholeheartedly. I know you are going to do well. Stand firm and don't let her frighten you away. Someday you just might be handing HER a little pink slip. It could happen. emoticon

Stay strong and remember just cause they are your boss does not mean you can not point out the negative impact there words and actions have on you.
Probable will help your situation out.
I hope you have a main configuration program that is just tweeked for each user. :-)
