Last weekend I had a short getaway to Gulfport Mississippi. On Sunday we took the Ship Island Excursion cruise to West Ship Island.
On the way we slow down twice to watch the dolphins. The seagulls were flying around the ferry looking for food.
The island is the north central Gulf of Mexico, about 11 miles off the Mississippi Coast; the islands are some of the last undeveloped barrier islands in America. Part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore & protected by the U.S. Park Service, these islands have high quality beaches for swimming.
On the island we visit the historic Fort Massachusetts (circa 1868) we had a Park Ranger guided tour. This was very interesting.
After the tour I change into my swim suit to enjoy the beach. We were on the island for 4 hours. I also found some sea shells by the shore.
On Monday we relax & did some walking. I think the Gulfport is so beautiful. The weather was warm & nice.
Here is Sara before I left looking sad.
