4/30/12-5/6/12
My Weight Loss Journey

Never realized how much I depended on my job for structure in my life. Last week my car decided that I needed an impromptu vacation. So I took a week off from work, and stayed at home. Of course, I had plenty to do. My house had been neglected with me being back in school and working full time and then you add church activities to that, and there are just not enough hours in the day!
So, at the start of my “vacation” I worked my way through the house and just did a bunch of spring cleaning. Packed a few boxes up for the thrift store, and cleaned a lot. Of course, by the end of the week, I was so exhausted. I left a few rooms to clean still, but I do have a three day weekend coming up this weekend, so I might get to it then.
I’m marveling on how long I have been on this journey. Not many people would say that a month is a long time, but I’m sorry…it is for me! I have my focus on the end result and getting healthy. I can’t get over the fact that I’ve lost 13 pounds so far…7 in the last week! It’s incredible to me that what I’ve been told all of my life actually works! Eat healthy and exercise. It’s harder than it sounds of course, but the sooner it becomes a habit, the easier it gets.
Another thing that I’ve decided that I want to do when I get my doctor’s permission is to start building muscle. I have heard that the more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism goes, and in turn you have a easier time losing weight…I wonder if this is why it is so much easier for guys to lose weight then girls…
Well, I’m going to end this blog for this week…I had sort of a blah week, but this next week I’m working hard to make it as colorful as possible!

I know exactly what you mean about the month thing. I also passed mine this week, and it doesn't seem like that long compared to what we have to go, but just keep looking at where you were a month ago. I keep comparing my walks to that person who could only walk for 8 minutes before she felt like her back was going to kill her. That keeps me focused on my progress and makes me feel good about all the work I have done.

It's a very exciting time, watching your body change and being able to see more of it without having to move things out of the way...slowly but surely!!!!

A month is a long time. Keep it up and by the time you know it, you'll have been on this journey for 3 months and then 6 months. You can do this!
