BRICKS: sit and spin
Monday, May 07, 2012
I rode my mtn bike for 28 minutes today. Yesterday, i rode 13 mins. Today, my butt was a little tender, acclimated quickly enough. My goal was 3 miles, which I did, and as fast spinning as I could manage so my leg muscles get used to the motion without power pedaling until my body is ready. In triathlon terms, switching from bike to run, your legs don't respond well. So workouts doing both back to back are called bricks, cause your legs feel like.... Sure enough. I did a gentle jog for a couple intervals in the 1 mile after the bike this morning. Definitely not much speed. This week is all about acclimating. I feel empowered just thinking about the training, much less the doing and competing.
My weight was down, still not back to the 199.8 lowest. Soaking up the empowered feeling, tracking food (thanks, spring bootcamp for accountability).
Another healthy: I made banana strawberries smoothies, crammed with fruit. Normally I'd chug the entire thing, a day's fruits in one glass. Yum. Instead, I froze the smoothie into muffin cups. Portion control, some frozen crunch, and my eldest teen ate healthy food!
