There's no calories in it...and a long overdue update.

So my favorite quote this week came from my boyfriend's mom. She told me there was a big salad in the fridge for dinner and there were no calories in it. Interested in how she achieved this, I go to the fridge to discover a huge chef salad. If I had to estimate, it was 3/4 ham, cheese, and hard boiled egg, and 1/4 lettuce, tomato, and carrot shreds. She apparently has decided that if you don't put salad dressing on it, it doesn't have any calories. It makes me glad that she's fine with me cooking my own food.
School has been crazy busy. We made it through the EOC tests for all subjects and now it's the final push to the end of the year. Only 2 weeks of class and a week for finals left! I'm also psyched that my sister is coming down on the 25th. Hopefully. As long as we can get the kitchen done.
That's the other big thing that's been eating my time lately. We had to tear out the hardwood floors in the kitchen and dining room. Our dishwasher was leaking for a long time and we didn't know it. It ruined the subfloor so we had to go in and replace part of that too. We've made 5 or 6 trips to the home improvement stores in the next town over (20 minute drive one way) and over a month picking out the right tiles. (She's VERY picky.)
On the me front, I've lost 46 pounds now. It's such a great feeling! I haven't been this low since I lived out in Arizona. (I moved away from there 6 years ago.) My clothes are mostly just hanging on me because I'm trying to not spend a lot of money on my way down the scale. I'd rather pick up a few things here and there until I get down closer to my goal. I did have to finally break down and buy a new pair of jeans. That was an awesome feeling. Slipping out of my size 26 jeans and hoping the 22's I picked up would fit, I got nervous. I don't know why. It was painfully obvious that my pants were too big. I had to pull them up every 3 or 4 steps. It was at the point that even a belt wasn't helping. THEY FIT! Oh I was so happy that night.
I've started lengthening my workout times. I think I'm still too heavy technically for the treadmill at school. It keeps quitting on me. But it used to quit on me at 23 minutes with no incline and now I can usually get to 38 minutes with a 15% incline. I even managed to jog for a full minute. Yeah, I know that's not a very long time. But I have to look at it like this: it's a full minute more than I could have done just 4 months ago. I have an additional goal now to do a 5k run with my dad. I could probably walk it now, but I want to run it. There's just something about reaching that point that has been calling to me since I made this most recent decision to lose weight.
Now I'm off to get the last of my cleaning done and get the mulch laid down in my garden. No rest for the busy!
