They grow so fast...

Friday, May 04, 2012

I have a very good friend who has three little girls outgrowing clothes and shoes faster than she can afford to replace them. Meanwhile, the hubby and I are anxiously awaiting our license to foster/adopt and plan on having a child around the same age (4-7), but will probably be a better fit for a little boy.

So...I decided to live vicariously through my friend and help out with her wardrobe crisis at the same time. For the last couple of weeks, I have had a BALL scouring thrift and consignment stores for kids clothes. I found such cute things!

I was folding and packing the clothes to ship today and what do I find in the pocket of one pair of jeans?! $15! My good deed has been financially rewarded so I can immediately commence doing it all over again. I can't wait!

That is so sweet of you to help your friend like that. It is also fun to find clothes for girls. I have two boys and always love shopping for nieces or friends' daughters.

Whatever child ends up with you will be one very lucky child!

You are an answer to her prayers I am sure. As Fluff grew I was worried about all the money we were spending on clothes. My sister found out I had never had clothes given to me that friends didn't need any more and when I went to visit she brought out boxes she had been saving just for me to look through. It was a huge relief on our budget. Even now she'll cram cute clothes in when sending other items and it helps so very much. I can see that despite your lack of kids in the house right now you are being exactly what a good mom is. What an example to those children. I am so excited for you to be able to foster/adopt.

I have seen similar situations many times. Once Mom gave some money to her church when she just felt led to do it and the next week found $300 dollars in a jacket pocket that she hadn't worn in years. Good deeds are often rewarded as quick as you do them. Hope you get that adopted child soon! emoticon
