Almost the weekend...

Fresh strawberries are now on my "no" list. :(

Tingling rapidly became much worse. Burning throat. Nausea within 20 minutes. Ugh. I got really sick within about an hour. Took benedryl and was still burning and hurting when I woke up.

I know that strawberries are a very common fruit to be allergic to, but really... I have strawberry plants already setting and ripening fruit, and I won't be able to eat any. Heck my dog probably will eat most of them, anyway. She loves picking them when they are ripe. She is so delicate about it. I hope I can film her doing it sometime this Summer.

I had no idea that they caused this. not that I eat them I know there are other things that I normally eat that cause this, too. I still have the persistant burning, but it is better. It could be chronic... but I can live with that.

I haven't had nausea for four days. Which is a first for at least two and a half years. So... I was better. I'm going to heal up a bit more before adding any new foods, as impatient as I feel.

Adding one or two things a day, it's going to take time. And food is boring without cheeeeeeese.... I did hear of a fake cheese recipe with miso paste and tofu. I may try it. Though I still don't know if I actually have a dairy allergy. I may be able to eat goat milk yogurt, I hope. And I heard that yogurt cheese made in the home is free of amines if it's not the casein I'm having problems with. We'll see. I could have had a false positive and it was something else. I hope so...

On the other hand, I'm down a pound without dieting or exercising much!

Watermelon and broccoli are ok, thankfully. :D Making a list, and tracking everything. Twice.

Ronnie bought me a lovely birthday card. The poem was so sweet it had me in tears. I love that man!

Hopefully tomorrow I'm going to feel well enough to shop a bit. I want to try to find some goat milk. I used to drink that all the time.

It's not fun having being allergic to such a yummy fruit. I have a sister who can't eat strawberries. What a cute dog. She must have a sweet personality.

Allergies are terrible things! My stepdad is allergic to just about everything (really!)! It's easier to list the foods he CAN eat! LOL! Wishing you the best with this "quest" you are on!

You are so right, food allergies are tough! Not only are they hard to identify, some people just don't "get it". I have an allergy to dairy. Most people say, "oh you're lactose intolerant" no, I am allergic to milk proved by allergy tests.

For 5 years I carefully avoided butter, milk (which I don't like anyway) cheese and whey. It's amazing how may things have whey in it when you read the label, like crackers. I found creative ways to cook using olive oil. Eating out was fun. Try to explain to a chef how to cook without butter, milk or cheese. I found soy ice cream is great and now they make a lot of things with soy.

Here's the good news and I hope this may happen to you, after clearing out of my system I was able to reintroduce it back into my diet. I have to limit and must not go overboard or sneezing starts within 10-15 minutes. I still carry benedryl and an epi pen with me at all times just in case.

Good luck and hang in there!

I have to wonder whether the exposure to planting and tending the plants and later the picking might be accumulating to expose that strawberry allergy? Just a thought.

Hope you're recovering from the reaction and keep up that journey of discovery.
