Week Eighteen: Swing Dance.

Thursday, May 03, 2012

I had a total blast at Swing Dance Class. It was so much fun tonight. I did dance alone a few times but I kept moving. I was able to dance with a new guy and he was a lot of fun. I also danced with my dance buddy. We are doing better. He came right up to me in the start and hugged me. It's fun when we dance we talk about all kinds of things like movies and kids but his kid is my age, lol. My other dance buddy and I had a lot of fun goofing around. We do funny dances together. We will be dancing then then something funny will pop into our heads and we will start doing it. We end up laughing a lot.

I'm getting better but I just wish I had more practice. The only place to really practice is at the Casino and I can't stand going in there because it's a big drive out and then people smoke in there so my clothes stink.

At the end of the month there is going to be a big arts festival and there is a lot of dances. I'm for sure going to it. I also have a dance this Saturday and my dance buddy wants me to go there. I'm also going to one on the 12th. So this month is going to be dancing every weekend except one weekend. How cool is that?

Tomorrow I have Aqua Zumba first thing in the morning. Then when I get off work I have R.I.P.P.E.D. and then Zumba. I guess that the Zumba classes I'm going to are high impact, lots of jumping and can hurt the joints because it's so high impact. Monday I will be going to the other Zumba class (the one my Aqua Zumba instructor teaches) hers is low impact land Zumba. Three of the Swing Dance Class guys go to it for two hours then after that they do tango for three hours. I wish I could do that. There is no way to make that happen, only in the summer time and every other week because I couldn't leave my son that long. We are talking I'd be at work from 9 to 12 then work again at 1:30 to 5, then Zumba from 5:30 to 6:30 then tango 7 to 9. That is one long day. I don't see how those guys can do it but then again, they live at home still (since they are 26 and 21) and they don't have jobs. Amazing. I wish I didn't have to work and could take dance classes all day and night. Lucky boys! The cute thing is they dance with their moms. They go to the Zumba classes and dance classes with their moms. Not many guys do that. I tried to get my son to come with me but he said, "Some how I knew this would lead up to you asking me and the answer is no." Oh well.

Anyway, I'm excited about next Monday to see the difference between high impact and low impact Zumba classes. I've seen it on the Xbox with Zumba Rush. Live classes are so different from Kinect games because of the atmosphere.

Also big news. I signed up for the Gym. I really like those R.I.P.P.E.D. classes and Zumba classes plus the gym is 1/2 a mile away from home. I've been going to about 8 classes a week. It's actually cheaper to have the gym membership then to have the class punch cards, so I figured why not. Anything to help me keep motivated and moving.

Five things I'm grateful for:
1. Silliness.
2. Homework being finished.
3. Understanding Instructors.
4. Good friends.
5. Dancing.

Dance dance dance! It's a GREAT way to work off calories because it's so much fun!

You could talk with the people at the casino to ask if there could be a non-smoking night from time to time for people who don't want to breathe smoke when they dance. Nothing may come of it, but you never know! Certainly if enough people ask, they'll do it.

My son is 17. I know better than to ask him to come dancing with me! emoticon

(I made those sheep once. It's a great way to get kids to eat cauliflower! I've also made olive penguins.)

All those opportunities to dance are emoticon !

And your son's response is actually pretty cute. I've had my kid's do that before ... see where I'm leading up to when I talk about something, and be like "Oh, no, don't expect ME to do that."
