Fresh start

Wednesday, May 02, 2012

I have been riding consistently for whole year. The first three months saw some very good weight loss, but April has been different. I have not been tracking the input like I should and have been eating far more than I should. This month, I get back to the basics. No excuses!

I've been hanging on by my fingernails as far as input goes. Real close all month to blowing it. Exercise dropped way off. Like you, this month is a fresh start. Good luck!

It's good you have the tools and desire to get back on track. One thing about the bike is it's easy to burn a crap load of calories. It's the thinking that, "oh, I can eat that or maybe two of those" that get's the best of us bicycle riders. I track everything going in and out even the ice cream cones after a 3 hour bike ride. I usually try to eat healthy meals on the bike rides when I stop for breakfast or lunch midway though. If it's measurable, it's accountable they say. I've been at a plateau for a month with the weight but if I take the tape measure out I will see differences in the legs, arms, chest, etc. I do track this kind of stuff in a log twice a month on Friday's. I try not to worry about what the scale says if I weigh myself on a daily basis. It's the long term results that stack up. I was over 300 pounds 6 years ago and little by little I've gotten below 190 (just this year). Takes a long time after that first 100 pounds melts off.
