The Quest for a Better Butt

Wednesday, May 02, 2012

Here's the thing; the women in my family in general has no butt. While maintaining I had stopped doing the stair master because I moved and lost that gym and started oth exercise. As a result, my nice butt, the one that if you read any of my old blogs you know I worked very hard to build something of a butt, started to vanish. Boo. Granted no complaints from the boyfriend, but I noticed. And if I notice, that is all it takes for me to start being annoyed and start inspecting myself in every outfit I put on.

We all have our things we focus on to a degree, our thing we want to get the trophy for most improved body part. Admittedly mine is my butt. So much so that when I went shopping for all the new clothes in the last stages of weight loss with my best friend, she eventually told me she was "tired of inspecting my a$$". Well, I needed an honest opinion, and Amy is brutally honest and will tell me if I look like there is a pound of pasta in my back pockets. So obviously I have been disappointed to notice a change. This brings me to my status change two days ago about how Carmen Electra's train kicked my butt.

So Carmen Electra... Say what you want but she has a good body, and I dqon't mind looking at someone to be inspired by. Honestly, I probably would not have thought twice about any of her DVDs except that my sister got some killer arms with volume 2 of her strip aerobics series. (Yes, I would like to have lovely arms too, and my sister and I are competitive to say the least.) She also developed a rather nice butt, a pleasant addition. The family has flat butts so anything we can do, right? I ordered the whole series off eBay.

When it arrived I felt like it was Christmas becuase of the anticipation that built up. I am such a dork. I actually started off with her fit stretch routine on volume 1. Then I went right into the first section of volume 2. Holy crap! Squats, planks, raises, crunches...The heart gets pumping, more than I imagined it would. My hips, inner thighs, butt, and lower back muscles were all sore in the best way. By the second time, I could fill it in my stomach, shoulders, and a little in my upper arms as well. And that is only the first 20 minute section of volume 2. I haven't even worked up to the second section to add in. But I am getting excited about it.

Today I did 22 minutes on the mini stepper with hand weights, followed by the Carmen Electra sessions. I was pretty proud of myself for that because I was pretty tired after the day I had teaching. (Oh fourth graders, some days you kill me.)

My boyfriend and I have a deal though. I asked him to gently encourage or remind me if he sees me lounging to long and not getting up to work out on any given day this month, and in return at his request, I have agreed not to get to a size so small that the nice butt I am working for becomes non existent or he will feel like he could break me. You see, he only knows me as the thinner Melissa, although he is aware of my prior self. I suppose he knows my personality and worries a tad I could take it too far if I don't keep it in check. He says he has no desire to see me "go all Kate Moss". Hahaha. Gotta love that! Granted, working in movies, he is certainly surrounded with the super thin on a regular basis, so all accept his no Kate Moss rule.

So I continue on, and I will keep you posted as I phase in the next section of Volume 2. It's odd but I look forward to being sore!

Happy Sparking!
