This week has been another week of contradictions. I burned over 3500 calories in cardio alone, ate in my calorie range daily (a few close to the top but in range) and I gained weight again. I am not stressing over it, just commenting on it. Yesterday was the 6th weigh in for the 5% Spring Challenge, I was up another .6 pounds putting me at a grand total loss of .6 pounds for the 6 weeks. This morning, I was a pound lighter than that. I am trying to eat at the lower end of my range this week, and joined the Spring Bootcamp challenge. I have not been able to make myself start strength training again on my own, the bootcamp gives me the incentive too do it.
I was only tracking three goals this week, water consumption, steps, and protein.
1) 10 glasses of water per day
2) 10,000 steps per day
3) 60 grams protein per day
1) 75 glasses of pure water 10.7 per day
2) 87,519 steps for 12,503 per day
3) Met 6/7 days average was 66.7 per day but missed hitting goal for day of 53 only
Even though I am not tracking miles as a goal, I was short of my 12 miles by Saturday, so I went out for a 2 mile walk. By Friday I was already over 70,000 steps so didn't need the walk for the steps. I just don't want to loose the momentum of 12 miles cardio walking per week. I want it too be a habit.
I met my water consumption, and am almost completely off the diet soda. I had the mother of all headaches today, finally went and bought a 20 oz diet soda to see if it was caffeine withdrawal, it was. Cold turkey was not the smartest choice. I drank a cup of hot tea tonight after the Spring Bootcamp video, hoping that holds me over until tomorrow morning. I know the headaches will eventually end. My loving husband reminded me I had gone through this once before, his words of wisdom...I hope you remember the headaches before you start drinking soda again, men!
I feel pretty good about the protein intake, even though I didn't hit goal. I was able to reach it most days by just adding in a serving of cottage cheese or greek yogurt for my last snack. I could have hit it all 7 days, but ate too much junk one day and the added protein would have put me over calories. I need to get my protein in and stay under calories. Less snacking is the real goal here. Today was a great example for me. Stuck to the meal plan, got in 90 grams of protein, low end of my calorie range, and only two snacks... 5 baby carrots and a serving of Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Powerberries. They are awesome but at 180 calories a serving....diet deadly!
Focus for the next week, continue tracking water, steps and protein. The "Living the good life" portion of the 5% challenge for this week is tracking 4 wellness criteria. This is way outside my comfort zone, but I have been doing it. Hoping that by cutting out the diet soda, I will begin to sleep better and have more energy during the day. Also, my sister is coming for a long weekend visit in 10 days, need to get some major housework done before she arrives. Need that added energy big time!
