Oatmeal for Fitness for Breakfast -- plant based foods & I'm not a vegan

This morning I've added strawberries & almonds & chia seeds to my oatmeal! I've posted the recipe here:

My weight continues to drop -- even if by just a part of a pound, and I'm so encouraged! Eating plant based foods has been really great for my body. I'm not a vegan however, I read that vegan means more than just eating plant-based foods... I've got my leather Dansko's and the elk-skin is hanging on the wall -- not to offend anyone here -- I'm just a happy herbivore -- but not too strict not to have a Thanksgiving turkey!

I have learned that the plant-based diet causes me to lose weight fast and I have the energy to exercise, to be happy (not grouchy here -- this is not a calorie restrictive diet so to speak -- it is filling and satisfying) well I feel just great! And I still enjoy coffee!!

    How did you get started on this? Was there a book? Menu? I'm looking into getting into a plant based diet and looking for all sorts of information.

    emoticon don't you just hate labels. I would say you are not 100% Vegan but are eating 100% Vegan. There are different ways of looking at things, Vegans won't ethically purchase leather, silk, or wool products. However, in my opinion you are choosing to eat as a Vegan for health reasons and that is an emoticon thing.

    I personally eat like a Vegetarian for health reasons not because I won't eat anything with a face. Yes I am against cruelty to animals but I will on occasion eat sushi or shashimi (haven't done so in over a year but trust me the desire is there).

    i call it vegan for health reasons, rather than philosophical reasons. but happy herbivore will do:-) amazing how plants help us lose weight and feel good too!

    Oh yeah... I'm the same way! I strive for 80% raw, plant based- but I still drink coffee (and even use cream) and I would also eat a Thanksgiving turkey... LOL!! You GO!! You're doing fabulous AND you've encouraged me! Thank you for that!
    I'm not a vegan either, though I respect any person's belief and their right to hold true to that belief. My decision to eat plant-based foods is strictly nutritional, and not ethical or political.
    So you're not alone! Keep up the great work!

    I think your doing great. And you don't have to worry about being a vagan or not, just keep eating plants and lossing wieght...woo hoo
