Night feasting

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

I have a hard time not over-eating when I get home from work. It's usually late. The earliest I get home from work these days is 730 (and that is an early day), but regularly I am home between 8 and 9. I tend to overeat at night, and to compensate I keep my meals very light during the day (usually at 300 calories or less) so that when I get home I usually have close to half of my recommended calories left. Example, tonight: came home and almost immediately had leftover macaroni and cheese (with peas), some jerky and a small piece of chocolate. We're talking over 600 calories within an hour of getting home. I know part of it has to do with my partner being home (he's been out of state during the week for the last 3 months). Whenever he is around I just EAT. I don't know why I would be doing that, but it seems like him being here is directly related. Really, I just find that it is easier for me to eat properly when I'm alone. I also exercise more.
I'm sure I will figure out a way to make this work.
Night, y'all.

p.s. just so ya know, I'm still within my range for the day. Just wish I'd give myself some wiggle room. What if I want to nosh later?!

I hear you. I'm a night eater, too, especially when my dad gets home from gigs or practice. He'll get home pretty late and he's hungry I eat with him. Let me know if you want to talk more about this since we've got that bad habit in common.

I had to break my routine at night; we have a tendency of associating eating with what we do so I did something else and keep myself on my toes so I don't overeat at night. Identify what happens and change it; maybe it'll work for you :)

Let me know when you have an answer on why you eat and exercise differently when he is home. It would help me too.
