Yea, I'm angry.

I'm starting over and it's awesome!

Someone had told me that it was ridiculous that I couldn't keep up with the low carb/paleo lifestyle. I was told that I should take the extra 5 minutes to make food for myself.

Really, dude, really? It takes 5 minutes to make a bowl of oatmeal. Or make some ramen. Or a sandwich. All of which are NOT paleo friendly. If all I had to worry about was my job, that would be one thing. But just so we're clear I'm working 30 -40 hours a week (5 days) at work and I'm going to school 5 days a week for 30 hours.

Bite me. When I work 7a -3pm and then go to school 4p - 930pm, what am I supposed to do? Also please note that I have to go to school directly from work because it is 30 minutes away (don't forget that rush hour traffic I'm dealing with so it takes longer) so I don't have 3p - 4p off. When the hell am I supposed to make food?

I also get home from school at 10pm (if I'm lucky) and then have to be up at 530 am to start it all over again. So yea, taking that extra time to make breakfast is a pain in the a$$.

So please, until you walk in my shoes for a while, don't tell me I'm being a lazy a$$. Until I'm not putting in 70+ hour weeks, I'll have to make do with what I got.

You can do this, but it won't be easy. School and work seems to be hitting you from both ends. You probably don't know, at times, if your coming or going. Working full time during the day and attending school all evening is overwhelming enough. No one is considering the time spent studying or the extra time spent preparing for a test or homework. This can be very stressful trying to keep up with everything. It's also very stressful trying to leave work and get to class on time. I commend you for all that you are trying to do and somehow you are doing it. Pat yourself on the back, you desire it. Losing 20 pounds with Sparkpeople is great with everything that you have going on. Losing weight in itself is also a challenge even tho you are using SP.

I am probably out of touch somewhere, but whoever said, " it was ridiculous that you couldn't keep up with the low carb/paleo lifestyle" is probably out of touch with how busy your schedule is and what a challenge it is to combine full time work with being a full time student. People on the sidelines seem to know more about the game than those who are actually playing the game. Let them try to run a week or two doing your schedule then see what they have to say. Like I said , I am probably out of touch but I'm not sure that I could keep up with the low carb/paleo lifestyle. First of all, I'm not even sure what it is. I could be doing it and not even know it. I could be calling by another name. Second, I do know that if you're given 24hrs in a day you can't squeeze in another 2 or 3 hours/ day. I have a suggestion, you probably have already considered it, it calls for creative scheduling. Maybe on your days off you could set aside some time between studying to cook or prepare some healthy meals, pack them in individual containers, put them in the freezer or refrigerator and pull them out as you need. You would probably still have to eat on the go but you might have to rush a little less because because you would have a ready to go meal. I had to do this when I worked and attended school at the same time. But to work towards getting my diploma it was worth it. Best wishes and success with school and your weight loss goals.

You have to do what you have to do, and you shouldn't have to explain or justify yourself to any one. You do what WORKS FOR YOU. Good luck with your very busy life. You are not "Starting Over" you are "Going in a New Direction". emoticon
