Trying to Lost Weight AND be Lazy

Monday, April 23, 2012

I've been down this road before, I was at one point a success story, but ultimately failed.

Big deal

One of the reasons I failed, and there are plenty, is eating right is just so f'ing hard. I'm not talking about the types of food one must eat, I'm fat, I like all foods. I am talking about the intense labor involved in making, preparing, baking, involved in constructing a healthy meal, and that is for EACH meal.

It's exhausting.

So, I am going to try being lazy. I'm gonna do the Slim Fast diet shake thing.

Its worth a shot. its something, and if it doesn't work, at least its practice for eating right overall.

You're right,, eating well can feel like a full time job. And if I've learned one thing (and I haven't learned a lot yet,) it is that everyone has different needs and different methods to acheive their goals. Sometimes, the only way to figure out what works for you is to experiment. Let us know how it goes!

I feel ya. It does take more effort to eat healthier. I've been tempted to go the Slim-fast route. I've found there are 3 or 4 things I really like. I don't need a lot of variety in my diet to keep me going. In fact variety just makes things harder for me. If I ever get bored then I'll change it up. Repetition has cut back on my prep time considerably. I'll grill a couple of chicken breasts, bag one for lunch for the following day and eat it over a salad mix I keep in the fridge ready to go. I've found prepping in advance has been a life saver. When I unpack groceries, I portion stuff out so I just need to grab, cook and eat without thinking about it.

I'm just like you. I find cooking and preparing food so much work. There is a good and bad thing about slim fast for me. I love it and have lost 120 lbs on it two times...bad news, I have gained it all back each time. I feel slim fast is a diet though and I don't want to be on a diet any longer. I'm keeping it simple with my eating and finding foods that I don't have to prepare...slim fast is still part of my program but not as a meal replacement.

I wish you the best whatever you decide to do. You can do it!

Don't give up! If you find that it is too time-consuming or that there's too much work to prepare meals, then just stick to simple, easy to make meals like sandwiches, soups, salads, etc. You can still eat other foods like pizza, just make it more healthier by adding plenty of vegetables with it. With salads, you can add pieces of chicken to make it more filling and instead of using a rich dressing, you can use lemon juice or olive oil, etc. It's easy to eat a portion size of chips if you buy a big bag that contains the smaller bags of variety chips. Just eat one bag per day. When you eat a sandwich, make sure that the bread is whole grain, wheat, etc. (not white enriched), and that you use ham or turkey in place of bologna. If you did it before, then you can do it again. Don't give up! If you tell yourself everyday that you can do it, then you really can do it!! I tell myself that everyday and I've gotten this far! Of course it's not easy but no one ever said that it would be. Keep telling yourself that you are doing it to live healthier, longer, to be more energetic, inspirational to others...And above all --Tell yourself that you are doing this for your wife and kids; to be able to be more energetic around them and to be able to do more! To be a good example for your family! (After all, your weight and attitude reflect on your family whether you believe it or not.) If you do this, then you will become more encouraged and feel that you have many good reasons to keep going! Get and keep a positive attitude! You can do it! The choice is yours!
