cost = a knee and a foot.

In my early teens i had caused a knee injury. I went to PT for a while and for the most part it felt fine. Sure on snowy days or if I worked too hard it would hurt and flare up but nothing major.
Well fast forward about 10 years later and I am cooking dinner and feel a bug bite me. i had PAM cooking spray in my hand and like a dummy i sprayed it with the PAM. Well after dinner cleaning up i slipped on the PAM and dislocated my knee and started a whole world of trouble. I could barely walk. This snow balled until 6 weeks later I tickled one of my kids at a photo shoot for the twins birthday and it happened all over again. This time though i tried to save my knee which cost me my foot. I broke 2 bones and dislocated 4. I thought okay give me a cast and send me on my way.
Come to find out I had a very serious fracture , lisfranc, and need surgery asap. Nov. 30th I received 2 plates and 11 screws in my foot and two very large scares. I will likely have arthritis in my foot and now walk with a limp. nearly 5 months later I still feel pain from time to time.

I lost my career due to this injury and now am in the fight of my life to get into shape so i do not case any more damage to a knee that has held way too much weight all my life.

I am 24 years old with a limp. I am 24 years old with arthritis in my future. I am a 24 year old whom should of lost weight before this happened. The weather is rainy and sadly exercising when the weather is bad causes my foot and knee to be unstable. Sure i pushed it at the gym this morning but I shouldn't have. I now have to wait until 2 days from now to go back because my knee and foot are so swallow.
There are many challenges in my way of losing this weight but this is the biggest and the scariest. I do not want to replay the last 5 months of my life.

    I am so sorry to hear about that!! Super painful. I have had arthritis in both knees since age 5, so I can relate to that, I also fell down my stairs breaking my ankle and my leg about a year ago. I have 2 screws in my ankle and a plate down the side of my leg, and I hear you on the scars. Being a year later the redness and stuff of the scars has faded tremendously, but definitely still a reminder. I get the stiffness you are talking about as well. I am sorry about your limp, did the doctor say he thought you would always have it or maybe it'll just take some time? In the morning when I wake up sometimes I feel my ankle is so stuff and I kind of walk like a penguin until it finally "warms up". I am just 2 years older then you, and we definitely need our ankles, legs and knees for a looooooooooooooooooong time, I hope you continue to heal and get stronger as time goes on. :)
