umm...oops?

what did i eat today?

breakfast (10:00am) 1 cup of coffee.

snack (11:30) 1 cup of coffee.

lunch (2:30) blueberry muffin and 1 small iced coffee.

dinner (6:30 or 7) 4 chicken strips and some fries. 1 bud light.

ummm...can i count my coffee as water? i haven't even had any! oh no. not the most nutritious day, for sure. but not the worst day ever.

i need to learn how to be healthy when i'm busy, too! (i was out and about today)

    Ohh coffee is my weakness!! I do still try to get in at least 8 glasses of water a day though. What helps me is after I have my coffee I drink at bottle of water. I've gotten into that habit and it helps!

    Today and tomorrow will be my challenge because my weekend job requires lots of energy and no time for snacks/water and the restroom breaks that come with it!!

    Oops! I don't count coffee because it contains caffeine which dehydrates your body. I do count no caffeine tea (as long as there is no sugar or milk). I am not beyond gulping a big glass of water before bed if I haven't made my 8 :)

    As for being healthy when busy, I recommend thinking ahead and preparing food in advance. For example, I am a part-time student, and I work 50-60 hours a week. I am also the one who keeps the house, and hosts gatherings for hubby and my friends. I've had some practice with busy! :)

    For breakfasts: I pick one thing and have it every morning. In summer it is a fruit smoothie. In winter it is 2 soft boiled eggs.

    For snacks: Fruit and veggies. I keep dips in the fridge (almost always greek yogurt with diced fresh herbs- sometimes hummus) and I always keep my favourite veggies and fruit to work with me. If I do not feel like veggies, I will just take two pieces of high fiber/low sugar fruit. If I want something high sugar like a banana, I have to take veggies too ;)

    For lunches: Every Saturday I plan my lunches. Maybe I make whole wheat wraps and poach chicken breasts and assemble roll ups, or I make a big batch of clean chili or soup and freeze. In the summer, I made some great salads. I freeze low cal meat balls. It takes lass than an hour and I can sort out at least 1-2 weeks of lunches.

    For dinners: If I can, I try to pre select dinners every 2 weeks. If I cannot make items ahead, then I at least need to know what I am going to cook. If I didn't plan, the temptation to pig out is too strong!

    any way, this is what I've been doing for the last 7 months. It has really helped me keep my eating clean and free of preservatives and chemicals. I hope it helps you too!

    Actually, yes, you can count your coffee as water. Same goes for tea.
