Frolicking Summer Goddess mini challenge!!

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

I really had to think about this but I am a Water Goddess!!

I was watching Memoirs of a Geisha last night (I have a habit of watching quiet, girl movies when my husband is away) and a line from the movie is sticking in my head.

"And when trapped, water finds a new path".

That is me. I am resilient, strong, stubborn (that CAN be a good thing lol) and flexible.

After almost 5 years of marriage to a soldier, I am able to adapt to changes pretty quickly, I am used to being told at the last minute of a week long trip to the field. I don't freak if we come up on orders. I am learning to bloom where I am planted and that no matter what, life is what I choose to make it.

On the other hand, I am incredibly stubborn. You don't mess with my kids. I will not rest until my kids are in the best possible situation and have the best care/ therapy/ school placement that they possibly can. I will teach them to fight for themselves as well as they grow.

One of the weaknesses of water is definitely the ability to be stuck, blocked or dammed up. I think this can accurately describe me as well. I can get into ruts very easily. I can often have difficulty recognizing the real reason that I am upset or can often bury feelings deep inside and pretend that all is well.

My hubby was in USAF for 4 yrs when our boys were little ... And I know the struggles that can ring. But I also made special friends who encouraged me and held me up during the hardest times! God bless you! How old are your little ones?

You used one of my favorite quotes in this blog: bloom where you're planted. I try to do the same and I totally get what you mean about learning to adapt to changes (my BF is in the Army).

Good luck on your continued journey, water goddess. :)

I like that - it's a good way to describe yourself in very few words.
