My first 5K ever! and a little update

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

I took a break from Spark because it felt too time-consuming and I needed to focus on other things. Thankfully my weight has remained in the same zone! Now that the weather is warming up, I'm looking forward to spending more time outside and staying active.

Last month I reached a milestone in that I ran my first 5K! I had been wanting to do it for years, and finally made it happen. It was such a cool experience to run with a huge group like that. The 5K was for St. Patrick's Day, and they had a group of bagpipers playing on the sidelines at one point and tons of fun costumes and crowd support. I'm eager to try to beat my time! I think I could have pushed myself to run faster, but I finished strong and it felt great.

My summer plans include more running, Zumba, and hopefully some tennis... it's always more fun when workouts are social time too. First I need to get through finals though! :o

It's awesome that you are doing so well even without the support structure of SparkPeople. I'd call that a definite success! Even though it's super fun and helpful, I definitely agree that it's time-consuming. Congratulations on your first 5K, by the way! Maybe you could drop in again after the next one and give us an update.

Enjoy all those healthy activities you have planned!

Wow! Way to go on your first 5k! Isn't it an awesome feeling? I get to run a 5k race on the 28th, and I'm so psyched! :-)
