Ups and Downs

This has been one of those weeks. I stay on track most of the time, but have had a few days where I indulged. It may end up being a "wasted" week as far as actual losses go, but that's one of the benefits of keeping a daily log of weigh-ins. I can look back and see that every now and then those types of weeks occur, but don't overall kill the path. It sort of keeps me from getting discouraged and giving up. It's something I've never done before. In the past, I've weighed in daily during times when I've tried to lose weight, but didn't keep a record of it so I could look back on those days that are a little discouraging and take heart that they're "normal".
Spark had a great article in their emails today. Registered dietician Becky wrote about "cheat days." www.sparkpeople.com/reso
It is a really good and interesting article. She talks a lot about her idea of calorie banking. I have to say that doesn't really work for me. Over all, I simply gain weight. However, there can be positive outcomes from the occasional cheat day. It's a bit of a relief and a little fun. A guilty pleasure if you will so long as 1) you don't do it often, and 2) you don't let that guilty pleasure turn into all out guilt that makes you give up.
So I've had my cheat days, and now it's back to business as usual. If this week does turn out to be even I'll take it, but I do still have 5 days to recover from my little guilty pleasure. (Which happens to be peanut butter out of the jar. I could eat that all day long. haha)
