Still Recovering

Well, Passover may be over but I'm still recovering from being sick the week before Passover and from injuring my left knee. I don't think it's a bad case of runner's knee but it does require some more time to recover. I walked the dog 3 1/2 miles this morning and later took the girls for a bike ride down the street (up and down multiple times so that they can get better riding their bikes). After that I went for a 6 mile run. I guess I wasn't prepared for several things: the warmer temperature; going on a run right after a bike ride; and not having quite recovered from being sick and injured.

I did the entire 6 miles at a pace of about 11:20 min/mile - not blazing fast but certainly not slow and a nice easy pace that didn't seem to upset my knee. Right now I've got it in a compression sleeve and trying to keep it elevated. The hope is that with light workouts and continuing on with the strength training it will slowly get better. I still intend to do the Takoma Park 5k in 3 weeks and then the Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon two weeks later. I will try to add more time on the bike to allow for more cross training. I DO NOT plan on missing the Marine Corps Historic Half - I missed it last year because of a business trip and I'll not let anything stand in my way again this year!
