The journey

As I was hiking yesterday I was thinking about the blog I read the other day and it said not to look up to look bu to look straight ahead. I did for a few seconds and then I looked up and what did I see at the top of that steep hill? My 2 beautiful, strong, healthy children. While I was looking down they had run with abandon up that hill. So instead of looking up or forward I decided look all around and I saw the rocks at my feet, the wind in the trees, my children laughing and skipping, my wonderful hubby trudging along behind me taking pictures and I remembered to just enjoy that moment. I was a beautiful day, it was cool enough to keep the insects at bay but warm enough to simply enjoy that wonderful views.

Remember look up to long and you will trip over that little rock at your feet. Look down too long and you will miss you kids running up that hill that looked so hard to climb until you saw them at the top. If you don't stop for a second and look out you will miss the wonderful vista that's all around you. You'll also miss the birds soaring. The deer mice scrambling through the weeds. If you don't look behind you, you will miss seeing where you have been and realizing what you have accomplished. Remember, you can look up but enjoy your journey, celebrate your successes, learn from your mistakes, and be inspired by your goal.

We all automatically watch like this when we drive. We are constantly looking all around, checking our mirrors and our gauges while also looking down the road. Good to apply the technique to everything.
