Back to basics...

Sunday, April 15, 2012

I didn't even track the last two days. Did log in. Not much else.

Back to tracking tomorrow... plus I'm going to try the rebounder tomorrow, again. My leg is still pretty sore but better. I still feel it may not be a shin splint under the knee but a real stress fracture, as it just hurts too much and is not really healing when I'm up on it much.

Did weigh this morning. At least I didn't gain without exercising as much.

Did enjoy having time with the granddaughter but sure wish I'd felt better so that it could have been more fun for her. She probably won't be back again until Summer. :(

Did get the new inserts for my shoes. I like them. They do seem to be helping a bit. I really need more arch support, though, so I'll just have to spring for that.

Mason Jar Salads idea.
Nice when I don't want to bother doing this every day.

great post and I love the salad idea. I don't have any Mason jars right now and as we are living in transition at the moment, I don't want to buy any. I reuse the larger plastic containers that I get other foods in - whether from pastries or store bakery cake or cookies or Cool Whip containers - the bigger, the better because we do need a lot of veggies in a day! :)

Right now, I'm eating a lot of salad greens with a bit of dressing and some shredded cheese - which makes it a bit more filling. I have bottles and bottles of dressing to use up and then when I start to run out, will try making my own again. I used to make my own dressing, years ago when I first started working as a cook. I also like taco salad, so chili, sour cream (or yogurt) and salsa on top instead of dressing works very well for a change. I think I'll get into Greek salads again, too! mmmmmm

Hi Sue, Have you had stress fractures before? I know they are not uncommon as we get older and I've had a few myself. I hope they do get better and less painful but if they don't please have your Dr. check it out. I loved the Mason Jar salad idea and read some comments and the author of this said she can store a pre-made Mason Jar salad in the fridge for about a week. Have you tried this idea? I wonder how many servings of salad in a Jar? I'm seriously thinking of ordering some Jars when I can afford to as it sounds like a winning idea. Your blogs are always so helpful and interesting--just like you are! Thank you for sharing. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sue, don't rush anything. Be sure you are healed completely before you end up hurting yourself more. I am sorry that you weren' t up to par to play the way you wanted to with your GD. However, right now you are the most important person. Pleasse take care!!

Sue, I also wondered if the shin splints was more involved and if you had a stress fracture or similar. Hope it's better soon! I checked out the link. How quickly do you suppose they eat those salads? For me, I think I'd just have all the stuff ready in the fridge and then toss it together...which is what I do anyway. Seems like some of it (lettuce, for example) would get mighty bruised if you're "packing it in" like she said. They were definitely pretty! Thanks for sharing, and get well soon! Hugs, Jeannie
