Happy Birthday DaD

Saturday, April 14, 2012

Rough last few days. My husband was injured in a work related motorcycle accident at training- he's in the hospital recovering from surgery to repair his broken left leg. I have been solo parent since Thursday. Not to mention today is my Dad's 70th birthday. Big plans this weekend that I will now have to do solo as well. I can do it. Friday I used as my rest day. I was blessed that my employer let me leave early Thursday and Friday. I also had done Boot Camp and ran 4 miles prior to work Thursday so perfect timing to take Friday off. Besides working, then getting kids out of half day from school, I then went to visit husband in hospital with kids, then coached my son's soccer team last night. We battled back from a 5-1 deficit and tied the game - 5-5! HURRAH. Great team work. Today I wanted to run so I came up with a plan. Had the kids ride their bikes and I ran- to CVS since I needed to get birthday cards from my niece, nephew, and Dad. I also had to get their presents. So we set off from our house- quite the busy street, them riding their bikes and me running. I kept bellowing directions to them- stay to the inside, slow down, wait up....
Mile 1 7:41
mile 2 7:35
mile 3 7:44
mile 4 7:30
30:33 average pace 7:38. Granted I had to stop briefly at miles .50, 1, 1:50, etc- very briefly to check on them, give them water, but for the most part- I was flying. I felt great. Dull distant hammy pain, but managable. They did so well. We quickly shopped at CVS, and got right back to biz. The distance total was 3.87, so I had them sit on the steps so I could round it out to 4 miles. WOOO. Happy to do that. May do it again Monday. Maybe. Have to see when hubs is getting released. 158 was weight. Off to see him and head to cape/

Be well
