september 9 : 6 k La Parisienne, all women, a circle around the Eiffel Tower on both banks of the Seine. this was my first race, last year. i expect to be beat my time by at least 10 minutes ... hopefully more. and we hope to have a Spark team running this!

october 7 : the royal parks half marathon in London, running for Oxfam (and halfway to goal! when i get closer, i think i'll raise it).

last year at this time, i had just signed up for la parisienne and had just started C25K. and did not expect to like it ... but planned to give running a fair chance (since after all my sister loves it so much).

i think i'm hooked. certainly for running. now i'm going to give racing a chance (though i know i will always be a back-of-packer -- that's ok).

oh, and the half I want to do next year, if i ever get down to close to 2.5 h:

PS I should have said that i did the first la parisienne and am doing 3 of the subsequent races with Lizalot and without her I would never have signed up for any of them ... or probably even have finished C25K. Accountability partners who do it too are really helpful!!!

Fantastic!! And thanks for the compliment. I'm now tailing after you, but will get there. Have decided I prefer running in woods and cross country than on roads, as had a lovely run yesterday (among the bluebells, as I said). The Firenze one looks gorgeous. And Florence is one of my favourite cities...

I am not going to lie - I have a bit of race envy, for sure. I came to visit, to thank you for your comments on my "miles to go" blog. I am looking forward to reading about your race experiences. Don't be so sure about the back of the pack - you may be closer to the middle than you think. In any event, you just run your own race - you will be fine and you will learn about yourself, and pick up a few life lessons (and hopefully, no blisters - wear good socks! emoticon ). Run on, runner!

Wow-how fantastic! You make me want to sign up for one and I think I will in the future for sure! I see the charity walks all the time-no jogging or running for me with bad knees! Really admire your drive and ambition and your joy of running! emoticon emoticon emoticon

What incredible places to run! Cannot wait to join you!
Of course I'll have to do a LOT of training before I can do a run that long. But yesterday I did find another bit of stamina - I'm still working toward a consistently running 5K if that makes any sense...

emoticon I am so impressed! Wow!!! All these races look wonderful. And it is great to read there should be a Spark team in La Parisienne. Maybe one day I'll be able to run again and I'll do it too!
