Challenge complete ... transformation just getting started!

Friday, April 13, 2012

Finished the 12 week transformation challenge at FYM, and very happy with my results. Lots of inches and pounds gone, lots more energy and stamina to help me deal with a very stressful life situation right now.

I took a few days off workouts as suggested by my FYM coach after completing the challenge, and today is my first day back to strength training. Really pushed myself to max out my reps with my weights, lowered the incline that I've been using for pushups, and generally figuring out my limits with 17-1/2 lb dumbbells--shoulder presses were brutal, but managed to complete 10, 10, and 8 without losing form. I really want to see some increases in my upper body strength since I need it for work. Also did a 15 minute interval workout and pushed that to the max as well. I feel like it has been a productive day, and I'm just getting started :)

I've learned some new habits, too: Eating 8-10 servings of produce per day, including lots of leafy greens and veggies. Getting up and moving a little bit more each day instead of sitting on my bum so much. Making sure I get enough protein in my diet to support the muscle strength that I'm building. As long as I get enough protein and produce at regular intervals, cravings are EASY to control.

Well, off for another busy day, going to the city to run errands and take care of some legal matters.

Have a lovely week; I'll check in next week with progress and notes.

    Melissa, woohoo for your own success, and I'm so glad your cravings are taking a hike, too. It's so much nicer to just be able to enjoy the healthy stuff, isn't it? emoticon

    Congratulations on the excellent results from your FYM challenge! All of your new habits are wonderful. I am surprised to find that all my food cravings are gone as well. It is actually a blessed relief. I am no longer thinking about what I am going to eat all day. I feel in control now. :-) Have a wonderful weekend! Hopefully you can find something relaxing to do as a family. {{hugs}}
