A lot more encouraged

I went again to the Waterloo Cancer Center. That's Monday I went for the Look Good Feel Good Seminar which was a lot of fun.

emoticonTuesday I went to meet the Radiologist and discuss my plan of action. What a difference it made from Iowa City to Waterloo. I'm ready now.
My new Dr. is a woman and I'm a woman so I like that. I communicated with her a lot better. She acts like she wants to listen to me. I like that. She said she would evaluate me tomorrow on the cat scan and she would decide whether I would start with a five week start of treatments of seven week start of treatments and she explained why. I liked that.

emoticonSo, I was worried about the cat scan. It was easy peasy! Then she tattooed 4 freckles on my tummy to use as goal areas for the radiation. I didn't know I would get tattoos but now I'm part of the tattoo generation. Of course, they are only 4 black dots that look like freckles but I got the tattoos and now I'm ready to go.

emoticonI met the physicist and the rest of that team yesterday and they put me on that table to make sure they could find my dots. I was able to do that too. The nurse helped me schedule rides to my sessions.

emoticonThen I found out they have a wellness director who is also a woman but her name is Timmie. She's very tall with long red hair. I'm looking forward to having a session with her. The fitness room has one of my favorite pieces of equipment, a nu step. I hope I get to use it soon.

Well, that's it for now. I wanted to get a blog in early. I'm taking Rosie to the airport for her trip to Florida. She'll be gone for 10 days. But, I'm driving her there with her car so she won't have to park it at the lot which is $10.00 per day. When I get back the janitor is going to park it for me and then I'm giving him the keys to keep her car. I don't want to be responsible for someone's car since I have not driven for years and the price of gas is so high.

Have a great day everybody. It's only6:15 a.m. and I'm already heading out the door. I start radiation on Monday April 15, 2012. I'm excited to start.

I'm going to call you tomorrow to see how your first radiation treatment went. I'm sorry I've been AWOL - I've been really down and withdrew from everyone. I had another eye surgery and am feeling better.
I'm glad you are so upbeat and positive - liking your doctors really makes a difference!

You have a great attitude, JEM. I am glad that those that will be caring for you through this, care about you as their patient.

Tattooed freckles made me laugh. You saved Rosie a lot of money by bringing her car back. I will keep you in my prayers.

I am so glad this is all coming together for you. I did not know they actually tattooed something on a person. Interesting. Maybe when all is said and done, you can have something put in there that connects the 4 dots.
I don't have any tattoos. I will find out tomorrow if I am going to have a tattoo, a wig, or just plain old surgery. If you are able, send up a prayer. Thanks. emoticon

I'm so glad to hear that you are happy with your health care workers. Dealing with cancer is tough enough without having doctors you can't be comfortable with. Laughed at your tatoo generation comment.

emoticon emoticon emoticon You rockin' tattooed rebel you!! :D LOVE IT!! ;) If they're close together can you have a box put around it and make it a die or domino?? ;)

My sister was diagnosed on Friday last with breast cancer. It's stage 2 PTL!! She has to have an MRI done and then they can go from there.

Jem, All in All, everything sounds good and encouraging to me also, praise God. It's important to trust and like your Dr's and they not rush you and you have time to ask questions and they take the time to answer them so you understand better what is going on. I'll be praying for a complete healing for you. . .Keep you positive attitude as it helps heal us faster and makes things easier for everyone--but most of all You!

I am so happy for you that you are getting "settled in" and finding out what is ahead. Also, happy that you are liking the care teams you are talking with and they are helping you understand. That means so much when you know. emoticon
