Frohe Ostern!! Update & Easter blog (pics)

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

First, sorry for not posting a weekly update blog last week. I was finishing up a semester and the kids were also off school at the end of the week. So needless to say, it was busy, but also fun times with them. We colored eggs and had an egg hunt (the older kids hid eggs). We had a lovely dinner and watched the movie Hop.
All around, good times.

I cannot give a fair and accurate weight update for myself this week, or at least right now (maybe Friday). Easter ham and the salt = water weight. TOM = water weight. They went one right after the other, so I'm giving my body until Friday to tell me where I'm at. I'm just keeping myself on track right now and drinking plenty of water.

Smoked my last cigarette on Sunday night. Made it through day one feeling pretty good. I was having a lot of cravings for foods, which I found odd. I thought I might be hungry more, but not exactly crave certain things. Then TOM hit in the evening and I realized it wasn't related to my smoking at all. Phew!!
I was a little edgy this morning, but now that I've had the new patch on for about a half hour, I'm feeling better.

I started 2 new classes yesterday and that is keeping me pretty busy, so that's a plus. I can use all the distractions I can get right now.

OK, enough rambling for now. I'm going to leave with pictures from Easter. The kids all woke up at different times, which worked out pretty nicely. We were able to watch each one look through their stuff. Notice Preston checking out everyone's baskets though...LOL!

Friday...coloring Easter eggs!

Preston's eggs...

Sunday morning...Preston was the first one up, as always! 7:30 AM

Next came Chad...who hates having his picture taken! 8:30 AM

Last was Emily...who loves having her picture taken! 10 AM

One last thing I wanted to share. Emily is in her 3rd year of German, which she just LOVES. Each holiday they have to make a poster and display it somewhere in the house. Then I sign it and she takes it back to school. Here is her poster for Easter, which she even let Preston help her on! Ginnie - I know you'll appreciate this!

Translation - Happy Easter

    Very cool blog, Beth!

I (like Kim) didn't do any Easter baskets this year. Mainly $$ but also because the kids are too old (13 and up) Maybe next year the Easter Bunny will slip thema litte something special....depends on taxes. LOL

We DID however, make cute Easter cupcakes and the girls did seem to enjoy that new tradition as well as coloring the eggs.

As for smoking. Going on 3 years this year for me. It won't be easy, but if you really want will be easiER.

    Happy Easter!!

Love the pictures of the kids, Beth -- I really, REALLY miss those things, and Nolan's so far away that we don't get to see him in person on most holidays.

You know how proud I am of you and hubby for tossing the smokes...and you know that *I* know how hard it is. So stay strong and I know that you CAN do everything else. Remember: GET TOUGH!

SO cute! We didn't do an basket for Sammy this year and it made me a little sad, but she said the only thing she missed was the candy...yup sure didn't need that in the house! LOL
I'm SO....SO proud of you for quiting smoking. I found when I stopped that if I put the patch on as soon as I rolled over in bed and then got up my "moods" were a lot less. I stopped sleeping in mine after a couple days because they gave me nightmares (no fun when you sleep alone, at least at that time I was). You have great drive so I know that you will make it through this. Just think how wonderful you will feel this summer down at the pool with out the smokes!

Loved your blog. Made me remember the days past when my kids were that age. I have boy, girl, boy too and I could almost see them getting up in the same order and the same ones liking to have their picture taken. Thanks for bringing up some good memories while you are making your own.
And hey......I'm so proud of you for attacking your smoking habit. I'm sure it will be tough but you are one tough lady so if anyone can kick can!!!! A little pun here......KICK THAT BUTT!!!!!
