Cadbury Eggs.

Monday, April 09, 2012

Those little bastards are my kryptonite. Seriously. I wait all year for Easter ONLY because I get Cadbury Eggs. Darn my advanced couponing skills...I ended up with 20 of them this year...for free. So YAY for anything I get for free, but couldn't it have been rice cakes or baby carrots?? :) I LIKE other candy...a fresh Peep, jelly beans, various chocolate eggs...but I can walk away from them. I'm fairly certain that Cadbury's secret ingredient is crack, and I'm reporting them to the FDA for mislabeling nutritional info when I get a chance. :)

Anyhow, I've been strong. I hid them in the very back of my closet in a storage tub (with all of the other Easter candy), underneath several other tubs and somehow managed to forget about them...until we put together the Easter baskets on Saturday night. I got a jolt from them when I picked them up to "basket" them...I can only imagine that this is how heroin addicts feel when they are holding the drug in their hand. I honestly had a hard time sleeping because I knew they were in the living room BEGGING me to eat them. But I abstained...because it was midnight and I knew that eating one would give me a terrible stomach ache. I looked away from them all morning when the kids were abusing their candy baskets...literally. I couldn't make eye contact. The day wore on and on until last night...when I gave in. I went easy on my meals yesterday because I knew at some point on Easter...I was going to eat at least one Cadbury Egg.

After dinner...my time had come. I ate a Cadbury Egg. And it was amazing...well worth waiting all year for. It was so good, that I decided to throw my caloric range out the window for the day and eat another. Somehow, the second one didn't taste as good. It was too sweet, and I felt sick halfway through it. Like a true addict, I finished it anyway...and had a 2 hour stomach ache as my reward. I felt guilty for eating them, and was sure I had blown my calories for the day...until I logged them this morning. Do you know that those two eggs only had 300 calories...in both??? I was SO sure that they must have had at least 500 each because they are so delicious...but no. 300. And I still came in under calories...on a candy-centric holiday. *breathes giant sigh of relief*

Yet another lesson re-learned (at least for me). A little "naughty" every once in a while is not the end of the world...it's just a little naughty. Life does not end, I don't gain 50 lbs from it, etc. So in the end...I'm glad I ate my eggs yesterday. For one thing, I no longer feel like I'm crawling out of my skin at the thought of them. More than that, I remembered...there is no harm in having a little fun with my food every now and then. :)

You made me laugh! Crack may very well be the secret ingredient emoticon

I'm a sucker for the Cadbury mini eggs. They're my Easter candy nemesis!

That's it. I'm putting all the leftover candy in the freezer. That slows me down a little :D

Thanks for the laugh. I didn't even buy the candy this year. I can get away with it with no grandkids yet. Was proud of myself for leaving the turtle chocolates on the shelf at Walgreen's last week. Had to put them back four or five times to succeed though! They just kept yelling at me!!

Omigod those things are incredible! I remember back in the (fat) day when I could eat 4 (or 6 or 8) of them in a row without thinking anything of it. Looking back on it, it's a wonder I wasn't twice the size I was! I had one this year, on a 'day off' just for Old Time's Sake.

Until next year, Cadbury Creme Egg, until next year...

The Cadbury Caramel Eggs are my nemesis! I bought myself 2 the first time I saw them in the store this year, just in case they ran out... The next week when I went back to the store they still had some, so I bought myself 2 more. I held the gorge at just those 4, but I could have eaten 40!

Yep... my Easter kryptonite are the peanut butter eggs. Oh good lord, i want them so bad! I have been good so far... they are sitting on my counter and I've been avoiding them. I will eat it within the next couple weeks, just waiting until their time has come! I won't feel even remotely guilty about it either, because having that one "naughty" is not going to hurt us. If anything, it helps us resist other cravings.
Good job for doing something for you! :-)

LOL! Your blog made me laugh. Your style of blogging was funny. :-) My husband loves those little eggs too. He has to have them every Easter. My vice is still dark chocolate. LOL
