White Bread?

Wednesday, April 04, 2012

I was talking to my girlfriend on the phone the other night. We started talking about diet and nutrition. She has always been skinny, I have not.

I said I haven't been eating wheat for about 3 months. She says, "Me too, I quite eating wheat. I only eat white bread now." (????) I pointed out that white bread has wheat in it, just no nutrients. That was news to her.

Which reminds me of another conversation with another skinny friend. When I said I watched my carbs, she said "What's a carb?"...................

Ah, the blessed ignorance of the skinny people. emoticon

Happy Hump Day Everybody........

The white bread thing made my jaw drop, even though I had suspected this before because I have heard many people say before they are not eating "white bread" any more but are now eating "wheat bread", which I think has still less than 20% whole wheat in it. Now I think how little I knew until I read "Wheatbelly", LOL.
I love the first quote. emoticon

My husband has always actually suffered from being skinny - he really was a toothpick as a kid - and he was just thrilled to develop a beer gut.

I swear I don't understand why they still sell white bread. The people in power are aware that it got nothing good in it. So why not take it off the market? Blessings to you and keep sharing your knowledge with those unknowing.
