Oh Boy, Rediscovering Food Allergies!

Rediscovering food allergies...... Wow! I grew up with food allergies. Didn't like it then and I don't like it now.

I was told that we out grow our childhood allergies. My Allergist says that some people do and some people don't.

Now that I am older, I still have some of my childhood food allergies and I have developed new ones. I don't like this, could someone take my name off this list? (LOL).

Well, this is just a new and developing story in a chapter of my life. The story is just beginning, with characters to follow. emoticon

Today, I am cooking chicken (in the oven) with cream of mushroom soup. I plan on having a baked potato along with that.

Today, I was more aware of my surroundings in my kitchen. Maybe I am being a little too cautious, but I double washed all of the utensils and the pan that I am cooking in. Better to be safe than sorry.

I don't want to feel sorry for myself, I want to, just be O.K.

Maybe this is God's way of getting my attention.

I am not thrilled with all of this attention I am having to give myself. Hey, but who knows I might even lose a pound. LOL. emoticon

    Allergies can really make you feel blah and weak. Some of the meds help, but make you feel sluggish.
    Don't overdo. The weather will improve.

    Hang in there Brenda. I too, get more allergies as I grow older. I haven't outgrown any at all. I know that people with fibro tend to have more sensitivities than others. I figure though, that there are worse things that could happen. Is the Allegra giving you any relief?

    I've just recently finished memorizing the book of Philippians... and your post reminds me of chapter 4, verses 11-13

    "I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength."

    We're quick to quote verse 13, but we forget the context - that Paul said that he had learned to be content whatever the circumstances - when well fed or HUNGRY... The secret to being content - first, is a learning process, secondly, the secret to all of it is in remembering we can't do it on our own, but through Him who gives us strength.

    It looks like you are well on your way in this learning process!

    Allergies can appear at any age. Besides, washing dishes can be a good cardio workout!

    I HATE food allergies. My particular ones are soy, peanuts, and tree nuts (but not all tree nuts--I can eat pecans and macadamia). It is annoying to always have to be vigilant and quiz everybody about ingredients, which draws attention to me when I am, for example, sitting at the head table at a banquet, and served a surprise dish other than what I had already discussed with the chef. Yes, this happened recently. On a cruise, I had already made sure my steward knew of my allergies, and then was served an apple pie in which the chef had lined the crust with a layer of slivered almonds without telling anybody. I was sick for 24 hours until the almonds were out of my system. Oh, yeah, and I haven't lost a single pound from the allergies and ever vigilant food watch.
