Last "race" of the season done!!

Where has the time gone? I swear this race season just started and it's already over!
I ran my last "race" of the season this past Sunday at the Charlotte Motor Speeday in North Carolina. It was awesome!! My boys and I went up on spring break and stayed with my sister and niece. We had a blast! We went to the Lazy 5 ranch and had THE best time!! The Lazy 5 ranch is best described as a huge and beautiful drive through zoo where you can pet and feed all of the animals from your car/truck! My favorites were the lamas and zebras because they were so friendly!
Sunday morning was the half marathon. I met up with Wendy (runtrilaugh) and some of the half fanatics/marathon maniacs before the race. Wendy and I satyed together for the course despite how slow I was. I wanted to go for my sub 2:30 but the course was much more challenging than I expected and after a few miles I knew the PR wasn't in the cards so we just enjoyed the race and each others company. We started out on the speedway track, went through pit row, out to the other tracks, around the dirt track, down the drag strips and back. It was a pretty cool course but very hilly!! My family met me at the finish and my oldest son and niece ran us in. That was awesome!! The medal is super cool! The drag stip tree lights up and the race cars move.
After the race I went back to my sisters house, had lunch and packed up for the 8hr drive that turned into the 9hr drive back home thanks to the lovely semi truck with the magos that ran into a bridge and sprayed fruit across the road.
So, now that race season is over I am working on the basics. I have been dropping the boys off at school and heading straight to the Y before work for ST every day this week and I love it! It's my ME time! I am taking this week off of running as I have a knee injury from all those hills in NC and plan to start speed work next week (as long as I am feeling better). My next event is the make it by midnight marathon in July. That race is a "complete only" race because Macon, GA in July is HOT and HILLY!!! It will give me good base training for the Marine Corps Marathon in October though.
Here are a few pics of the weekend! Enjoy and have a beautiful day!
