Slowing down

Coach Nicole posted just the right video today on Facebook. How to prevent Shin Splints. A few days too late for me.
I can't believe I have shin splints. I'm not running, but I am walking on concrete when I shop or go outside. I do have inserts and arches in my SAS shoes but they aren't the custom ones, which a dog of mine ate years ago. I guess I have to figure out where to get more.
I haven't even managed rebounding. Probably a good thing. I guess one has to rest for two weeks, with moderate movement and such. Back to exercising in bed a bit more eh?
I'm doing ok tracking food, at least. Hoping for another pound loss this week.

    Poor you, my friends son had them and he said it was so painful.

    I do bed exercises too, I was given them after an operation and I still do them before I get up. They stretch my spine ready for the day ahead.

    (((hugs))) and keep doing well tracking your nutrition! I once put together a whole workout to do while in bed! LOL At the time, it was how to survive extreme fatigue! There's also been exercises to do in bed while my ankle was recovering.

    Sue, Really sorry about you're having shin splints but love how well you're dealing with it and the pain. Like Noel mentioned maybe you can exercise while you're resting in bed? Put getting those arch supports on the top of your to-get list if they help prevent this from happening again. At least, you can continue in the Pamper Challenge and give yourself lots of ME time. I hope you like to read as it's one of my favorite hobbies. Take care and God Bless You.

    Bummer about the shin splints...I would get them from hurrying from class to class on a large campus...now a days they have shuttles that take one around campus, no such thing when I was in college. Good for you for keeping your counts in check and heal quick!

    Sue, you are a real go-getter and you will recover from this also. I know you need a lot of bed rest and as you say, you can still exercise in bed. So, since you're tracking and doing some exercising, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if you lost a pound or so! YGG!!
    Just don't drink your 12 glasses of water or you'll never get any bed rest :)

    My sympathies - I've had shin splints 3 times. You can try massaging your shins (right next to the bone on both sides), and I've found that helps almost as much as taking it easy and walking it out little by little. Good luck and fast healing!
