March 26 - Missing in action and an explanation......

Wowza..... talk about stress, I have been there since last week! I haven't made a blog entry since Monday and I haven't really been on Sparks either. Lets just say that I had the week from h-e-double hockey sticks.

It all started after my sisters surgery the weekend of March 16-18. She had her thyroid removed and during surgery they had to cut a nerve. She also had trouble with her one side of her lungs not working right. Long story short, she was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday because she was having trouble breathing. She has been in the hospital ever since and had a trach put into her neck to assist her breathing.

Wednesday I watched her four kids all day so that her hubby could be with her at the hospital. I was able to go and see her later on that evening. It was a very long day.....

Thursday my daughter got sick so I was at home with her all day. After my hubby came home from work I was up at the hospital to sit with my BIL while my sister was in surgery. They were going to put in the trach but decided to wait and instead drain the fluid from her lungs. It was a long time waiting in the waiting room but my BIL and I chatted the full 3 hours so that helped. Once back in her room she looked exhausted so I didn't stay too long after that.

Friday I helped them out again by watching their four kids for the day. The older ones have been on spring break and they haven't been having the best week. To add a little fun I took them to the zoo. It was a challenge taking all four of them but it was worth it. (She has very hyper kids....) They loved it and it tired them out a bit. Here is a picture of the four of them posing at the zoo.......

Again.... Friday was a very long day and I was exhausted by the time I got home. I tried to get back to some kind of "normal" making it home in time for the kids coming home from school. We all had dinner together and then we sent the boys off to their Boy Scout camping trip.

Saturday was a very packed day but it felt great to get some things done. I cleaned the house, organized some closets, we finished painting my daughter's room, and I did some laundry. Then around 2:00 we decided to go for a hike and do some geocaching with our daughter.

It was a beautiful day for hiking..... perfect temp outside and the sun was shining!

My daughter did pretty good and only complained a few times. When we were looking for geocaches she would take a short break. Her idea of sitting is sitting on my feet so her bottom doesn't get dirty. Such a girl......

We were able to find some sort of bench during our hike that she rested a little at. Although, I don't know if it was supposed to be a bench. It was very high!

We have been to this park before and have been hiking in the evening and heard coyotes. But that was in the evening...... Well that day there was one out in the middle of the afternoon. We thought at first that it was a small deer until we looked at it more closely and saw the way it was moving and acting. Yep, it was a coyote! We scared it away looking for a geocache by this field....

After it ran away it starred at us for awhile from a distance and then eventually ran off behind a hill. Of course, my phone camera was too slow and by the time I could snap a picture it was too far away. The whole rest of the hike though, my daughter was nervous. So of course my hubby was teasing her.

After the hike we all were starved and ready for some dinner. So we stopped at Five Guys for some burgers. We have never eaten here before so it was fun to try it out.

After eating we made our way over to Base Camp to check in with the boys to see how they were doing. We don't normally do this but they had forgotten some ice cream sundae toppings so we thought we would drop them off. We also have never been inside so it was a great opportunity to check the place out. I was surprised by how small it was. The pictures on the internet made it look so big.

After visiting the boys we made it up to the hospital to visit my sister. She had been in ICU all day long after getting her trach put in and was just heading up to her room. She did not look good and her hubby was worried and wanted to stay the night so we decided to pick up her kids and take them home with us. This made it a long night but it feels good to be able to help out my family.

Sunday was more hospital visiting and a wedding shower for my cousin. It was great to sit and laugh with my sisters after such a stressful week. When we were up at the hospital we were trying to bring my sisters spirits up with being goofy. My sister was making balloon gloves! LOL....

So that was basically my week in a blur. I can't wait to get this week somewhat back to normal. I know that I will have more hospital visits but at least I am back to work and working out at the gym.

Today's workout felt great! I did a upper and lower body weighted workout and ran a little on the track. Feels awesome!

Have a splendid day!

Elaine, what a week! It's nice that you were able to spend some time with your sister and help them out so much. And you still got the painting and organizing done with time to spare for some family fun! Amazing.

Hope your sister is doing much better now. Hugs to all of you!
