Another Stumble.

Monday, March 26, 2012

Well, in looking back through my blog posts, I see that I had a fall on Jan 16th. Well, I haven't been a very good "Sparker" lately, but I can tell you now that I fell a good 3 times in Feb/Mar. And the last one got me, Folks.

First off, I'd love to know why the sudden pattern... and Second, I'd love to understand HOW a fall can stop a person literally in their tracks for WEEKS. I am going on 3 weeks of immobility and pain. I fell while running with my sister on my favorite paved trail - on my left palm and right elbow.

Total Belly Flop.

I'm talking, slow-motion, dramatic music, arms out in Superman pose... STOP.

And just like that, life changed a little.

No blow drying my own hair. No washing my own back. No washing dishes. No lifting weights like I did before.

No running. :,(

I ended up finding out that my shoulder bone is broken - the ball end of the humerus is cracked through but hanging on... at the place where the tendon meets it. Which means that while it WILL heal, it is in a bad spot that requires me to be careful. No lifting, pulling, etc. or the tendon can essentially pull the end of the bone off. (Guessing that would hurt.....) And they are going to look at it on Apr. 10 to see how much it has healed and see if there is also a torn rotator cuff to deal with - which would mean surgery.

So, here I am. Thank you to Microgirlie for checking on me. :) So sweet of you. And really, I was so glad to be reminded that there IS something I CAN do. I can ask you ladies for encouragement. I can log my foods. I can do a few light exercises. I can stay pepped up and positive! I can not whine so much about not being able to run and be thankful that I can walk! I can enjoy the Spring sunshine and see what a blessing it is to have a Man that is taking such good care of me. I can do SOMETHING.

And God knows I can keep chugging along at work and the Grad school assignments (please-Jesus-let-me-finish-th
is-semester-still-sane) that WILL NOT GO AWAY.

Hope you all have been well and enjoying life! I intend to do that very thing!

It's great to hear you're still upbeat and sassy despite your fall. I have missed your "voice" around here, which is why I looked you up!
Accidents happen so quickly and without us really understanding why, but as i well know it is nevertheless very frustrating! I hope your check up shows that you have healed, and you don't require surgery, but if you do need it, it won't be the end of the world.
I'm glad you are being looked after - you keep up with your school work, rest up like you're supposed to and you'll be back doing your beloved running before you know it!
    Enjoy spring!
