Week 23 - Keep on Keeping on

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

Today marks the start of my 23rd week of being healthy. The amount of changes that I have made, and the amount of changes that have happened to me over the past 5 months or so have been nothing short of remarkable, and while my weight loss has slowed over the last month, I am still as eager to change and continue as I was when I started.

In the last week I have lost just under 1lb and I am very happy with that. Having been in a plateau for 3 weeks it is nice to lose any amount of weight, and I also understand that as I continue to lose weight it will become harder to lose more, so I okay with the fact that I probably will not see 3.5lb loses week in, week out. During my journey I have also learned that the scale is not the best way to judge how you are doing anyway.

My clothes continue to fit better, and clothes that were once too small now fit. Just the other day I took a 10 year old England football (soccer) jersey out of my cupboard, it still had the original tags on it and it had never been worn because it was always too small. I decided to try it on just for giggles and wouldn’t you know, it fit perfectly. It is moments like these that spur me on, that give me the motivation to carry on and to not give up.

I am also glad to see that my BMI is still decreasing (slowly) but at least is is moving in the right direction. When I started out my BMI was 46, so to see it below 35 is very pleasing. There is still a long way to go but having lost 68.8lbs already, I know that losing the nest 64.8lbs to reach my overall goal is very achievable, especially if I keep on eating right and exercising.

While I still use my exercise bike a little, I do not use it near as much as I did when I started out. I think that because I did not change up my exercise routine for 4 months it attributed to my plateau. As you know I have started running and I am currently training for my first ever 5K. so my C25K training has become my cardio exercise. What I really need to do is figure out how/when I am going to start weight training. I honestly have no clue what I am doing when it comes to lifting weights and I can just see myself getting injured, so I guess we will see what happens with that.

I am hoping to lose another 1.5lbs this week. If I can manage that it would mean that I will have lost 70lbs total! So here’s hoping that this week will be a happy healthy one!

Thanks for reading, I hope you all have a happy, healthy week too! All the best,
