At 40 I can...

Saturday, March 17, 2012

do a lot of things I didn't used to be able to do. In some ways, I am not quite as strong as I was about 7 years ago, but in others I'm tearing it up.

I can
-deadlift 160 pounds. Repeatedly.
-do clapping pushups (though I can't do as many pushups as I used to be able to do when I was teaching pump. Maybe someday I'll be able to do a one arm, but I'm definitely not there yet.
- do a chinup
- shoulder press with 40 lb. dbs in each hand
- do pistol squats! Still working on making them pretty.

So I am sure others can do more, but I am proud of my consistency over these last 9 years. Learning that I can do something new that I never thought I could makes me grin like an idiot in the gym, walk around the weight room with confidence and keeps me going! It still hasn't made me look like a fitness model, but my body works and it's strong! I love it!

Awesome! At 57 I can do so much more than I could until the last few years. I can do things I hadn't dreamed of before, like running 5k races, even if I'm slow. Our age doesn't define us!
