Life is good

Thursday, March 15, 2012

Hi - its been awhile since I've blogged. Life sometimes gets in the way and we get side tracked. During my side-traction (yes I make up words occasionally) I didn't fall off the wagon. I wasn't tracking as faithfully as I had, but I was very mindful of what I was eating and I was still working out. My trainer stepped up the intensity so I couldn't slack off in that area.

Life continues to throw curves and I've learned that you can either fall off and get discouraged, or you can hold on tight and ride it out. You can stand on your faith and beliefs or you can drown. I choose to stand and keep praying and keep trusting. So I can honestly say that life is good ... my dark threads only enhance this tapestry called life. Without the dark you wouldn't be able to appreciate all the other colors.

Yesterday we were blessed with a healthy granddaughter Erin-Christine ("Squishy"), 7# 11 oz. 10 fingers 10 toes and great lungs. She joins her big brother 22 month old Vaughn Chandler, Jr (Squeezie). So life is good - I am so wonderfully blessed.

I am able to take my grandson on walks without getting winded so I am instilling healthy habits in him too. Other life style changes that are positive - we are now meatless Mon-Thurs sometimes Friday. We get out and do stuff on the weekends instead of sitting around watching tv and eating. Sunday meals have changed too ... sometimes they are the usual, but most times they are quicker and healthier.

I've stopped measuring my self-worth with the number on the tag or the number on the scale. I no longer beat myself up when I eat something that isn't exactly healthy. I just get back on track. My husband has joined me on this journey and has lost 30# (quite easy at that) so its easier because I can just cook one meal and don't have to grocery shop for 2 different palates.

So yes life is good and my journey is going well - even with the bumps and curves. Keep SPARKing!
