Stepping out in courage
Thursday, March 15, 2012
A couple days ago, I stepped in to the vacant roll of leader for Southeastern CT SparkPeople team, and I also began forming a team by the same name for our local Relay for life (zip 06360) and am looking for local people to join me. I walked two years ago before all my surgeries - cervical spine fusion, knee arthroscopy and lumbar spine fusion (injury related, not due to cancer) - and plan to walk 1-2 miles at least on the first day of the event.
The web link is main.acsevents.org/site
The name of the team is Southeastern CT SparkPeople
This is being brave for those who have been brave in the face of battle.
For both my grandmothers, one who faced and fought multitudes of cancers for 8 years; for my father-in-law who succumbed to colon cancer; for my friend Mavis who died after her battle with breast cancer shortly after I lost my step-mother from breast cancer; for my husband who has fought several bouts with skin cancer.
I was determined to do this, and I am.
If you are local and want to join me, send me a message.
