Back on the Wagon!

It's been a while, and I've strayed. lol I'm now at a place in my life where I can get back to dealing with my weight. I'm now off a medicine that left me 15 pounds heavier than when I started it. How annoying. I didn't even realize that I had put on weight until dh told that it looked like I had. (He was very nice about it, and not in a Wife you are getting fat kinda way. lol) He was only home on the weekends, so he could actually see the difference. I'm so glad he told me. After evaluating whether I wanted to continue the meds for the minimal results that it was providing, I decided to stop it. Adding the weight certainly wasn't going to help me longterm.
So, I am back with a renewed drive to get rid of this extra baggage that I'm lugging around with me. Much of it is my fault, some not so much, but it all needs to go. I'm at my heaviest weight ever, and it's time to start back down the mountain.
The past week has been about getting my act together. I've taken the steps to get back on track. My water intake is back up. My activity level is up. I bought a bodymedia fit arm band to track my activity. I've been shocked to see how few steps I was getting every day (even though I feel like I never stop moving) and how little sleep I get at night. It's been really informative and made it much easier to see where I need to put more efforts. I also ordered the special display so I can monitor throughout the day while away from the computer. It's making a huge difference in my daily life. Not a cheap investment, but dh told me that I deserve it, and if it helps achieve my goals that I want to meet, he is more than supportive. Between this and sparkpeople, I now have a handle on this.
This past week I have lost over a pound, and have increased my activity level quite a bit. Sleep hasn't resolved itself yet, but that's to be expected with a teething 9 month old. We have 2 more working their way out, and hopefully it will be soon, and she'll be back to sleeping through the night once again. She popped her 2 bottom teeth over the past 3 weeks.
I'm logging all food that passes my lips, even the not so good ones. I'm claiming credit for my activity. I now know exactly how many calories that I'm burning over the day. No more rough estimates based on averages. It's a custom fit for me.
So, I'm off to a good start. I expect some stumbling on the way, but I need this.
And here's why...
