Back on the grid - finally...

Not a fan of excuses, but I happen to have a couple, so try to keep the snickering and giggling to a minimum...

(1) Business Travel - March has been surprisingly tame in terms of travel, but April will get crazy again. Lots of speaking gigs and shows to attend for my company.

(2) Kitchen renovation - we are nearing completion of the kitchen project, and while it has given us the kitchen of our dreams, it has thrown an incredible monkey-wrench into meal planning. Lots of eating out and ordering, so it becomes so easy to just say F&CK !T.

(3) Illness - I'm battling the 2nd major cold of the season. The first laid me low for about 4 days, released me enough to get stronger and recover for my first 5 miler in a couple of weekends ago, and then it comes back and nails me again.

(4) Shin splints - while trying to grow my mileage, I developed some nasty splints. The odd thing is that they appeared on the inside, almost in the calf area, but right along the edge of the tibia (not the front, which most people get). I've been resting for 10 days, using ice, massage, The Stick, and manual fascia release and it all seems to be working. Root cause appears to be my running shoes have too much support on the arches in rolling me to the outsides of my feet, leading to additional stress. I'm going to try a couple of shorter runs to evaluate and possibly move to a more neutral shoe.

Going to recommit to the food tracker in the meantime. We can now actually cook in our kitchen while the final trimmings are put on the project.
