It's been long known to all my my friends that although I live in Las Vegas it's not my favorite place in the world. Despite that, I have to say - moving here has been nothing but good for us. In the 8 years we've lived here, we own a house (underwater at the moment, but at least it's relatively inexpensive and ours), I've managed to earn two degrees and follow my calling into the museum field, my husband has enrolled in a professional certification class to bolster his credentials in HIS new career. Together we make at least a third more than we were making in LA - and our cost of living is lower. We manage to do the things we want to do, buy the things we want buy, and STILL manage to put a decent amount into savings...

...BUT...I really do miss LA, it's my home and I feel like I "understand" the city and it understands me. Career-wise, the museum field is larger and more diverse, which could lead to more opportunities down the line. The quandry is...I just got called for an interview for a position in LA and really don't know what to do. We have a great quality of life here and I am NOT willing to move back to LA just to struggle again - but in the long run it might be the better move.

Thanks for all the thought provoking comments. I guess I just need to go with the flow and see if it's feasible. I haven't been offered the job yet - lol!

Ahhhh, to not have to struggle!!!!!

I live in CA. For about 16 years now. We are STILL struggling. STILL living in a tiny house, etc.

    REALLY think hard about this.

Where would you like to retire?
Get the cost of living figured out first before moving.
    Get the cost of moving.

    l be praying for you.

Let us know how it goes. We care.... emoticon

It sounds like you are happy there. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices for your own peace of mind. Is it worth moving back to LA just because you "understand the city"? What does that mean anyway? Plus if you put your house in LV on the market would you get out of it what you owe? Do you want to go back to the struggle? Just what would be going through my mind if I were in that situation. Ultimately you guys have to do what's right for your family.
