The Simple Diet Journal #7 -- Increasing Activity to Burn an Extra 2000 cals/week

Saturday, March 10, 2012

Because I mentioned on my blog yesterday that I would try doing the Hula Hoop today -- it helped me actually find a moment and go for it. Once again, the power of setting goals and writing them down bears fruit.

So . . . how'd it go? Believe it or not, I was able to keep it going for even longer than a minute! And, it was a lot of fun.

The biggest challenge was finding a space in my house where I could hula the hoop and not bump into anything. I think the hoop I have is a perfect size -- just way too heavy. I'm going to weigh it tomorrow and see how it compares with the ones you can get online. Time to do a little research and see what others are recommending.

Also . . . had enough time today to keep on walking at the track and I was actually able to walk 10,000+ steps and c.4.5 miles! I love using a pedometer and clocking it all in (couldn't resist taking photos of today's accomplishments -- think I'll even post them below :-).

It feels great to be able to do it -- and begin to meet the goal set by The Simple Diet plan -- gradually increasing activity to the amount where I'm burning an extra 2000 calories/week (page 98). Here's to hoping that I'll have the same window of opportunity tomorrow and do it again.

almost walked enough to earn 3 donations for clean water -- yeah!

NDHuntress -- that sounds like a great goal!

IKNOWWHOIAM -- I felt like you did when I read about the simple diet plan -- I liked it. And, 6 weeks in, I still do. The book is really helpful, but I did get started for my first few weeks solely on the info provided on a 2-page article in Woman's World.

    Thanks, too, for your congrats!

For the Striiv -- they've teamed up with GlobalGiving and their corporate partners make donations. Currently, they donate to 3 groups -- and you have the option to choose which one(s) you want to walk for. Here's a link: http://www.globalgiving.org/striiv/

Brook ~ my present to me when I lose 60 pounds will be to get the Striiv ... I really really want one but know it will be that much sweeter when I hit that magical number and get one.

    You are doing great.

I like this simple diet plan. I'm gonna look it up. Also, it looks like you do right by your body and an organization makes donations to help people? Please tell me more!

I like this 'cause this looks like something I can do. I'd rather go positive and add something to my life (more excise) and let the negatives happen natural (less food, less bad food).

Thanks for sharing and congrats on your pedometer readings! Yahoo!
