Spring 5% can't get here fast enough

Saturday, March 10, 2012

The lengthy layoff between 5% Challenges has proven my suspicions that I have little, if any, discipline when it comes to food choices.

As a participant of these challenges for almost two years, I always use the time in between to relax my Sparking. You know, like Hungry Girl's 80/20 rule? Behave yourself and eat carefully 80% of the time and veer (slightly) off track 20%. Generally these challenges have fit that pattern beautifully. Eight weeks of Challenge, a couple of weeks off before beginning the next. During the time off my weight creeps up a pound or 2 and then the challenge gets me back to maintenance weight.
emoticonBut what happens when the Overall Leaders need a breather and have a 7 week break between Winter and Spring? Hello, 4+ lbs! Goodbye, smaller pant size.
emoticonWord on the street is the Spring Challenge starts next Saturday. I haven't reverted back to Square One but I'm going to approach this as if I'm starting over. So with that, here's my answers to Pre-Challenge Assignment One - -

Have you got your gym clothes, runners, water bottle, etc. ready to go? Absolutely, been good about getting my cardio (thanks to the Walk It Out Dude Ranch Challenge).

What is your exercise plan? WIO has become addictive but it came as a shock that "real" walking outdoors uses an entirely different muscle set than walking in place in front of my wii. Walked a 5k event last weekend and could feel it until Thursday. So, recommitting to leashing up the dog and heading outdoors. Also need to get the weights out of hiding and quit ignoring the toning aspect.

Do you know what diet you will follow? Found some recipes? Have you stocked up on the foods? A low fat, (very) limited sweets, common sense diet relying on Weight Watchers and Hungry Girl recipes. I'll use this next week's grocery flyers to plan my shopping to stock up on healthy.

Do you know how to connect with your team mates? Absolutely. Sometimes spending too much time sitting at the computer. Going to have to watch that.

Did you put your Spring 5% Challenge Commitment on your page? We'll say this blog satisfies that.

So, how the challenge is going on, are those lbs coming off?
I have a similar effect with trips. They are hard to keep in the good flow, but short trips are already an easy go. Long trips are more difficult, I've already tackled the exercise part, the next stage will be the nutrition part, so I both enjoy it, and keep it healthy.

    Very sound advice.

Have not seen you around on the chat for a while. I do try to keep up with the reading, otherwise I have a friend that keeps me up to date.
