The Simple Diet Journal #6 -- Track Time and Key #4

Friday, March 09, 2012

So, yesterday was absolutely gorgeous – a record breaker for our region: 70 and sunny.

Today’s still sunny, but super windy and chilly. Nevertheless, I decided to put on my gloves and scarf and head to our nearby track and rack up some steps. Hence my new photo (finally figured out how to resize my pics so they're not too big to upload on the Spark website).

It's great to be outside again and not have to walk by the food court and pretzel stands at the mall, which may be good for fortitude-building and resolve-testing, perhaps :-), but I'm likin' the fresh air.

This weekend, I’ve decided to be on a mission and really pump up Key #4 of the Six Essential Keys for The Simple Diet:

"Build up to burning 2,000 additional calories in physical activity weekly (about two to three miles, or thirty to forty-five minutes, of walking six days weekly)." Pages 26, 39-40, 280

So far today, I’ve got 5100 steps on my Striiv and earned another donation for Clean Water. I've now started working towards a new donation for the Rain Forest. I really like the walkathon component of this little gadget.

I've also climbed 132 stairs and covered 2.3 miles. After writing this, I'm thinking to ride the exercise bike for 30 minutes while watching TV. Can't believe I'm talking like this -- but, here's to making Key #4 become my lifestyle!

Tomorrow, I’m going to try a Kettleball workout with a DVD. May even try to crack out my hula hoop (found a great video of a Spark member and she was incredible – got me motivated to try – let’s see if I can get it to stay up for at least a minute!)

Off to watch Jeremy Lin and the Knicks while biking . . .

Happy Weekend!

Peace, Health and Living Fully No Matter What . . .

Once you engage those endorphins, exercise seems like fun. Did I really say that?!?!
