This cartoon really spoke to me today. Around 9:30 last night I realized I had a ton of energy. We had a busy evening and didn't get home until around 8:00. That's usually enough to wear me out after a full day at work. But something was different, and I felt great.
I went through a quick mental checklist to figue out what in the world was going on. I haven't had caffeine in two weeks, so that's not it. I've only been eating less/better and walking regularly for three weeks. There's no way I could be feeling this good this soon. Or is there?
My dad always said "energy begets energy", and I believe he was right. Taking that first step toward creating a better me seems to have caught on. The more I walk, the more I *want* to walk. And Lysa TerKeurst says in Made to Crave that "you crave what you eat". I can attest that the better I eat, the better I feel. I'm also less interested in my old ways of stuffing myself with junk.
Now that's not to say I haven't/won't ever experience moments of colossal weakness or emotional eating. I am human, after all. But if it's the exception not the rule, I'm okay with that.
I'm amazed, surprised, and overjoyed that I can actually feel a consistent increase of energy. And it's an energy brought on my positive changes, not sugar or caffeine.
Have a beautiful day...I'm off for a quick walk.
